No Left Turn Intersections and Lights.
Been trying to wrap my head around something that is so fundamental in all traffic in the modern day. Where is the left turn lane and lights in this game? Why do I have to wait for mods to add this when it should be base game feature? Green light multiple lanes then car blocks entirety of traffic so then traffic behind the light stagnates and becomes congested.

Remember when they said your favorite mods would be integrated into vanilla.... Yeah they lied. Current road service tools are about 10% of TPMEs capabilities and don't even work. Pedestrians still cross with no cross walks causing massive traffic jams and bogging down systems

You need to first unlock the road tools via your progression points, you can do this with your first point. Then both these tools along with others are under the far right of the roads icon.

Yes, without mods left turns must be avoided (even in roundabouts) because the cars will almost never cross due to traffic from the opposite direction. The best way is generally to reduce traffic to a minimum, it raises your land value too. They are policies and services to do it. But what am I saying...a big number of city builder players play to watch traffic, no joke. If the road is full, the road is full, nothing not even mods can help here. :-D

You can make left hand turn lanes for intersections by using 5 lane asymmetrical or 3 lane asymmetrical for the actual intersection roads, and then switch to 4 lane or 2 lane respectively coming out of the intersection and it will create the left turn lanes at the intersections with lights.

Everything we learned from Biffa does not work in this game. CS1 vanilla has option for priority road, which puts stop or yield signs at all intersecting roads. Not in CS2. CS2 if you choose a stop sign, it only goes 4 ways. No option for main road not having one. That is base game CS1 stuff. Not having core game functions from the previous edition is inexcusable. I agree with OP that if you have an Intersection where a lot of people want to go left, it will back up because there is no opportunity for traffic to go because oncoming blocks. The game seems to be oriented toward roundabouts, clearly. Without the features TMPE provided, busy intersections all fail.

Doesn't add what I am talking about.
