I don't understand what's going on with my city, I need help
Hello everyone
I have a problem
I'm trying to find out what's going on in my city
All my companies say they don't have enough workers
When I check the info screens, I see that I have a lot of job opportunities but 39% are unemployed
I'm always close to everything and have decent infrastructure and public transport

If I look for the bars in the info screen (RCI?) then all of Housing densities say -Availability of Jobs
What does that mean?
Do I have too few jobs or too many?

When I look at other Infoscreens i see, I have more than enough job openings for every educational area
Nevertheless, no new citizens come to the city
When I designate a new area and paint there, regardless of the density, almost only pensioners, a few children without parents, a few teenagers and rarely a few adults move into the houses
Is my save game bugged by the update or am I too stupid to understand it?

The second problem I have is that in my largest district the houses show -16 smal homes
what does that mean exactly?
does anyone know that?

I find it very difficult to figure out the density I used on this house years ago because the green tones are very difficult to distinguish especially if a house is built there
I'm not color blind, but I really have trouble seeing what kind of density it is at a glance
The icon that appears at the top left when I click on the house is also so small that I have to go to the screen with a magnifying glass to guess what it is
Except for mixex zoning and the terraced houses, you can see it well
thank you for your help

It would help if you could take a picture of it. Not enough workers show up when the business has too few workers to keep up with the customers, not enough customers mean the business has too many workers for its customers, but won't fire them instead they just stay home and wait I guess vacation pay or fur-load. Though things can change from day to day as citizen traffic is effected by how cold, warm, cloudy hot wet rainy and or snowing thundering or hail storms. Citizen prefer to do outdoor activities when it is hot sunny and warm, rain will bring them inside. Most citizen will go get food to eat at a restaurant or convenient food at a convenient store, the hour of the day will also play apart at 7:00am to 9:00am people tend to go get something to eat, around 9:00am most sims head for work, they eat Diner around 4:00pm 6:00pm. Depending on what population you have will determine the how often they show up, but most of though icons will likely show up at night when everyone is sleeping except for though citizens that sleep all day to work at night.

I think building more offices helps with the not enough customers issue.

If you click on buildings that are short on workers, it will show a break down by education. What is the education status in your city? Maybe you lack higher educated citizens for some of the available jobs?

If you are getting the "Small Homes" penality, it means those people are complaining that their home unit they are renting is too small for their tastes. Higher densities have smaller home sizes. Having a mix of different densities is the best solution to this problem.

Another issue can be if the jobs are too far away or too hard to get to in general.

I think the city is buggy
I've now looked again
They say there aren't enough workers because they lack lower-skilled workers

Population 96562
Adults approx. 45%/43525 people

The Population info screen says:
Jobs 65551
Employed 39091
Unemployed 28.1%
According to City Statistics, there are almost 4,000 unemployed

Workplace availability is shown in the info screen
Workplaces 66008
Employes 48628

When I click on the RCI it says low density, medium density and high density housing
-Workplace availability
The industry says: -worker availability

I don't get any demand for residential buildings, even though I have tons of job openings
Even if I create new areas and don't offer any services so that the land value remains low, almost only pensioners come. In the last test area that I created there were 2 apartment buildings with 65 apartments each in which 65 children moved in without parents
Is there something wrong, or am I stupid?

No this can not be
I have a large district where there is an industrial area within a kilometer
In the other districts too maximum 1.5km distance
Everything connected to highways and public transport

Maybe you can share the save? I have -5000 unemployment. People are coming from outside to work in my city. I can have a peek.

Let me guess: You started your city before the latest update? I got my test city showing 40% unemployment and 1500 open positions since the update. There was also major changes in population etc. when playing for the first time after update.

How do you see exact unemployment figure in percent?
hubb Nov 6, 2023 @ 1:40am
Found it. Population tab says I have 8% unemployment. Despite the fact, that in city statistics indicates, that there are more jobs in city, than workers.

Yes, I started the city right on the day of the release
I have had this problem since the last update
Nobody wants to move in anymore and I supposedly have such high unemployment
When I look at the population info screen it shows me that I have 65551 jobs and 39091 employed
When I then look at the Workplace availability info screen
Workplaces 66008
Employes 48628
If I now assume that commuters come to work in my city (I've already seen that), that means 9,537 people commute
Nevertheless, I have more than enough jobs, I still had 17k open positions if I can believe the information
From the looks of it, the save game is buggy
I guess I can start a new city
Pity

I have similar problem . I have no low density residential demand. The other densities have high demand, but none for low density. All other RCI indicators work correctly and spawn in when I have put in commercial or industry. But nothing for low residential. :(
the fact it’s 2025 and i’m still struggling with this too!!!
