Sounds like a skill issue. Just gotta be abit frugal until the hundreds of millions roll in. try starting taxes of 13%+. don't build power production unless you are exporting excess. Charge 40-50 for early mass transit like buss, with lowest bus count on every route. Add 50 street parking fee. Build specialized industry too cover minimum your industries needs. crematorium, not graveyard. Build only services that is really required. add smallest cheapest parks. can reduce Service fee on Water/power too offset happiness loss from taxes.

Sounds like you over built city services.

I can start making money at few hundred people without raising taxes at all. 1. Use outside connection for electricity in the beginning. 2. Use water pump and not the water tower, if possible. (Don't forget to lower those budgets so you don't overproduce and save some money) 3. Do not place any services (ie fire, police, medical, deathcare, trash) at all until you start making at least $1k/hr. All the services will be provided by an outside connection. The first thing you should put down is a school when it become available...everything can wait. 4. Keep zoning/building RCI. 5. Build those specialized industries as they become available. Chicken and Stone can be placed anywhere early on. You can always move things later once you unlock more and more tiles.

does crematorium over graveyard works? my hearse didnt send anyone out,
i watched for a couple min and saw a hearse from outside connections coming to pick up instead of the crematorium i had placed.

If you need money you can unlock the nuclear power plant, it costs a few hundred K to run and makes 1.5m per month from power exports.

When building your city if you keep in mind the demand and build accordingly and and also increase the taxes to maybe 15% for everything and 16% for industry and 17% for office also schools , internet connection , specialised industry as soon as possible and watch a few videos on youtube . City planner plays have good tutorials .

Education
Yuuki Nov 4, 2023 @ 6:11am
what helped me was to straight up fund education.
Which makes sense. since higher wage = higher taxes 10% of 1000 vs 10% of 3000

How large is your city/population count?

I wasn't making any money for the longest time in my city. I pretty much survived off of the milestone cash injections.

It was probably around 20k pop when things started to stabilise a little and then as my office demand grew and I started putting down high density offices the money started rolling in.

I'm assuming you're already adjusting your taxes and service budgets as needed if you've looked at guides.

Geothermal plants can make you a lot of money. Have multiple upgraded ones with enough outside cable connections to carry the load

I'm making 3m in electricity exports

I built a 700MW hydro dam. Money has been pouring in ever since.
