i have a two way highway (overpass on top of a avenue) and traffic keeps doing a u turn on the middle of the highway i tried putting no turn signs it doesn't resolve
Lol yeah they'll just wait for the community to "Fix it" with mods,
Cims just ignore all the roadtools except traffic lights, still sucks that u gotta "force" them with highway/Freeway nodes
It's funny because i have similar roads, but i've not seen the middle road stop and hold up the rest like that without it being caused by me modifying a road, or an accident happened.
Easiest fix would be expanding the 3 lanes to 4, and the off ramp to 2.
Probably what's causing this, is that middle road is going left at the end of the off ramp, and the right most lane going right, and that's why they're jumping at the last second...
I was annoyed at every type of car using public transport roads. Bus only? Nope. We won't do that. Imagine the revenue I could get on tickets for this if my police did their job.
Do these city builders not have any idea about what happens in cities?
I dont know but CS2 seems like its even more dumbed down than cs1. but this time with graphics no one can play. and their priority to remove an advert that a few find offensive rather than focus on the game - more worried about their image than their ability
One is that they seem to have a chance to randomly change to an adjacent lane if there is any level of congestion in front of them. In a congested zone I'll often see the same vehicle change lanes multiple times. At the same time, they'll do this even if they are close to their exit and are already in the correct lane. When you get multiple vehicles doing this too often in a congested section it leads to something looking more like ant behavior where they are constantly bouncing off of each other.
The second major issue that I see is that they wait until the last second to merge in, and will stop too far ahead. This means that they can't make the turn to merge into the lane and often end up first backing up to then merge into the lane (particularly if it is a large truck). This is another issue that ends up causing huge amounts of congestion.
Tweaks to these two behaviors I think would improve traffic flow in congested scenarios quite a bit.
LOL everything that in this game (an others) is called IA, it's just an algorithm whit a fancy name.
(end of the quote part)
(Rant part)
The IA can be better, but if the short nodes and transition nodes don't adjust properly, any IA in the world will stop the traffic and make cars do turns of 90 degrees in the middle of nowhere. Probably, this node thing is difficult to resolve, and in the worst case, adds some challenge to the game. (so no high priority fix)
May be some day they solve this, or just like on CS1, don't.
By the way, roundabouts are complex auto-generated intersection nodes. You can't change the street inside the roundabout, because it's part of the intersection node. That's why some roundabouts don't behave as intended. To make real roundabouts, you need to use the old method.
The same, with normal intersections, that you can put stop signs on individual corners.
