For now, at least for me, the train system is unforgiving and unrelenting. Consider separate networks for everything.
You can control how many cargo trains are in your local network and their routes. The game doesn't just spawn tons of them due to demand for them. The cargo trains also carry a LOT more than the ones in CS1.
Even the trains that import from the outside will be ones that you control. The only train traffic you don't control is thru-traffic only. You can keep them out of your network using the extra track extension at the rail cargo station as the one to import goods from the outside.
