Multi-lane highway exits?

It doesn't matter what I do, if I have e.g. a 4 lane highway and try to build a 2 lane exit, the highway will only signal one lane for the exit, so cars will start piling up on all lanes to try to get to the furthest lane into the exit. Anybody know if this works?

You should be able to split it, so you end up with 4-2-2 format?

This is one way to do this I guess. Doesn't sound as elegant though. Thank you!
