Map with no outer ship connections?
I started my first game on the map Mountain Village.. And have plans on building up an intrinsic harbor with boats coming in.

But now i noticed this map don't have any outside connections for boats on it..

So what will happen if i ignore this and put a harbor down anyway?

Im guessing i wont be able to export goods, but what will the boats do if i add a harbor anyway? just roam around in circles across the entire river or what should i expect?

Now trains and boats do nothing untill you tell them what to do. Export or moving passangers and cargos acros the city. No active line - no boats.

Not sure this is true or not but someone said you can make your own connection for boats once you reach the boarder?

That’s how it works for power lines, water, lines, roads, trains, so you’re probably right, you can probably do a ship connection, but you have to have purchased the tiles to get to the edge of the map

Yeah, now you have to set up the cargo line, almost similar to how you have to set up a bus line or tram line

Yeah, but if you zoom in on the border, you can see a tiny dark arrow for different connections. There is one for plane, one for train, and one for each of the roads leading into the region.

What this map is missing, is one of those darker arrows meant for boats.

Im afraid i will waste a lot of time designing a harbor, and then not be able to export in the end.

But if you open up a map and zoom in on the borders, you can clearly see the very dark connection arrows.

And this will work even if i dont have any of those dark connection arrows?

As long as you have a waypoint at the border, it should work.

Yes it works that way, you build a road, track whatever to the border, and you create a city node there if a city exists on the other side, the existing ones have the advantage of beeing there already

Oh man i do hope it'll just work like that. think im gonna start up the same map with everything unlocked just to try before i go.

The bad thing about that is that i will probably unlock some kind of achievement for it, so it wont turn up on my regular map :(

But at least i'll know with a 100% certainty if it works!

Yooo awesome! I tried it and it works! just pull the seaway all the way to the border and the dark arrow now shows.
