Pedestrian bridge
Hello,

I'm trying to build a bridge for pedestrian over a highway. I don't have any problems with the bridge, but I'm trying to connect to an existing street but get the message: elevation too low, and distance too short... I tried to extend it, but it was ridiculously long.

oh I get this too, it's way to hard to use these. As they end up being hug. Like everything in the game, it's seems way too big for what it is.

It looks like unlike in CS1, they enforce a lower gradient on the pedestrian bridge ramps, making them similar to road bridges (so they don't have the steep ramps that people have to pretend are steps in CS1. So it may work for you to have a longer approach to the bridge. (Probably even make some switchbacks like IRL).

I understand the wheel access ramp. My problem is not that the slope is too steep.

I know, I am just saying that the game logic is making it that you have to have a very shallow angle for the pedestrian bridge. This gave me fits too. That's why the "distance too short."

Would you be able to give a screenshot?

Found my problem. I used a covered pedestrian bridge 10 meters high to cross the highway, and then I tried to use the same covered pedestrian bridge to reach the ground getting the error too low.

The fix: Use pavement path in the pedestrian option to go from the pedestrian covered bridge to the ground and I was able to link my streets over the other side of the highway.

That's good to know and also a pretty neat strategy.

I wish they would just put stairs on the bridge if the gradient is too high. they are basically useless right now because the sims have to walk forever to get on it and they decide to run in front of traffic instead.

I've been saying that since CS1! Stairs would be the BEST! I end up having to use underground footpaths to hide most of how absurdly long the 'ramps' have to be...

While we're at it, pedestrian underpasses that don't need to be 10 meters down. A 3 meter depth would make the ramps manageable.

I totally agree about adding stairs. I think it would even be best to suggest this at the Paradox forum.

Yeah the exact same thing worked for me. Apparently you cant use the covered pedestrian bridge all the way down to the street.

But i wonder how it looks if you stop the bridge at 1 meter, and then connect the ground with pavement for better looks?

Pedestrian bridge maker, like the one for cs1 is sorely missed!
