Fixing the "yellow screen" bug

When I started playing last week, the game made no sense because everything I tried to do was invisible under a yellow fog. I did not know this wasn't how the game worked, and I was very frustrated.

A little research has determined that this is a driver bug. There are updates and fixes that might work but they did not work for me.

The dev fix worked for me.

1. You must run the game with the -developerMode flag.
2. In-game, simply pressing TAB opens this developer dialogue.
3. Under Game Rendering, find Custom Passes, then Tunnel Pass. Uncheck Tunnel Pass.
4. You can TAB this dialogue away.

This will have the unfortunate side effect of disabling certain aspects such as bulldozing water/sewage pipes. But you can always repeat steps 2 thru 4, above, to temporarily return to yellow 'screen mode' long enough to bulldoze underground items.

It kinda sucks, but at least it's not a showstopper.

I put that in my launcher options as well. Dev mode simply does not activate using either Tab nor Home key. I searched google high and low and can't find anyone with issues to access the dev mode :(

Those who are confused how to start developer mode, go to file explorer, and open the folder containing cities skylines 2 and run command prompt there with this cmd -
Cities2.exe -developer mode
This command will run the game in developer mode. This step is for those who does not have steam.

I fixed it by using my dedicated 2070 instead of my integrated intel 630.

I think this is the only true 'fix' going forward according to the official forums...

I was able to load the game with -developerMode and the yellow screen is gone. However, I can't see the pipes that I am laying down.

For playing this game you do need to have a dedicated graphic card. Without, no chance.
