Performance isn't AS bad as i thought...
First off i want to state, THE PERFORMANCE IS STILL BAD! but it's not as bad as what i expected it to be. Here are my specs if you are curious

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
Ram: 32 GB 3600 Mhz
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4060ti 8GB
OS: Windows 10

So I went into the Sommersee benchmark city that is found online, loaded her up at a mix of low and medium settings at 1920x1080P and got an average FPS of around 35 FPS. It fluctuates between 25-50 FPS. So while it's not great. It still could be worse. I also imagine for people who have a more powerful rig then mine can get even better FPS if they scale down their graphics and resolution. The game still looks pretty good on the settings i've got.
So overall, if you have a system similar in spec to mine. You should be able to run the game just fine if you are okay with 30+ FPS. I do want to mention that there are major stutters when loading into the world, but as time goes on. They get more bearable.

I gave it a 2nd chance after refunding the game.

My RTX 3060 Ti is only 20% weaker than the recommended RTX 3080.

It isn't that bad under 1080p medium gameplay, but I feel like gameplay is more important than the visuals. I only have 16GB ram, don't plan to upgrade anytime soon tbh.

The Performance is good. You only need to change Settings and then the game works great. look on youtube how to do that.
Same here. I play with a i7-9700K, 32GB RAM, RTX 3070Ti Win11. The performance is for sure better then expected. I've changed my settings to Medium with a few changes. The game runs fine at 25 - 60fps.

I believe the reason why the game is so negatively received is because content creators that benchmarked said performance wasn't ideal, and then people took that idea to an extreme and made it worse than what it was. At this current moment. The game runs fine if the specs are like in the middle of minimum and recommended. The game still needs to be optimised. But regardless it is playable. 30 FPS is 100% playable, as this is a city builder and you don't need 60+ FPS to really get a playable experience. 60+ FPS would be ideal, but is not needed imo, but still doesn't skirt the fact the game still needs a lot of work on optimisations. People just blow things up to an extreme, and a lot of the negative reviews are likely people jumping on the "review bomb" bandwagon. I have no doubt that paradox will fix these issues. Because if i remember correctly, cities skylines 1 had a similar situation at launch, but was optimised later. They are definitely forced to optimise this game as if they didn't the game likely would get even more trouble community wise, or would just fail altogether. So i don't really doubt the devs will optimise.

Hmm... not impressed with the performance on first load/recommended settings. Sub-30 FPS on a 5800x/6800xt w/ 64gb of RAM. I'll definitely have to play around with game/graphics/drivers settings.

I love Cities~ though, so I'm willing to be patient with patches and whatnot. Worst case, I found my excuse for a future upgrade.

Absolutely. The game is definitely playable at this point, but still needs further optimization.

I've downloaded a savegame of 105.000 pop as test, and getting around 35 FPS.
I had to turn a few settings down, DoF was particulairy eating FPS, but at least its playable aftering fiddling with settings.

But even with a RTX card, i cannot get a constant 60FPS even on 1080p, and that i think is for a modern game a reason that warants a critical note to the developers that the preformance of the game in underwelming, even on top tier PC's

But besides the preformance issues, the game is about what i expected to be, and i am more as aware that in content it won't be holding up to the previous game that had many updates, patches, and DLC's, and above all a established modding scene.

Except the preformance, what in my case is still playable, but Meh!.. but i i have a pretty good PC, so i can imagine how it would run on a PC with lower specs as mine..
I would not be happy either, and not everyone can afford top tier PC's.. think that is something developers never should ignore..

On the other hand, games have the tendency to be very dramatic and impatient, and more too often act like a buggy game is the Start of the Apocalypse and they have to defend all gamers from the evil overlords who turned anyone that does not agree that the game is causing the end of the word, must be under influence of those evil cooperation's who turned us all into mindless sheep and need saving and they are the chosen ones who can save us all, as that is their god given right of freedom of speech and such blah blah..

The problem was to have depth of field and motion blur enabled by default. I bet 99% of the people complaining didn't spend a second to optimize their settings before they ran off to cry in reviews

It's because this forum is completely delirious. Basically every post on here and IMO most of the reviews atm are irrelevant, it will almost certainly trend upwards in score.

Bruh, you can't support this mess of a release. Pay €50,- for an unoptimized game that doesn't look or play better then its previous version.

It does play a lot better, a lot of things are a complete joy.

I got a 2070 super, the performance in menu was terrible before anything. I go in advanced setting, changed my resolution there to my monitor resolution (tough it said it was) and immediatly fixed thing. I play in high settings in my 4000 inhabitants city without problems.
