I'm not surprised when it runs less than 30FPS on a RTX 4090 that plays any other game Max Settings no issue.

All of those games also aren't on release day.
When you have a bad launch like this, you get the initial wave of people who have tech issues and can't start the game or run it well and post a bad review and refund, fair enough. Then you have people chasing clout who post reviews. But believe it or not, people who enjoy the game aren't writing reviews right now, they are playing it. It takes a few days for them to finish up their first cities and finalizing their impressions before they post their reviews. I would wait through the weekend at least as that is when normal people will have time to sink their teeth in and give their opinions.

That being said this game simply needs to run better on lower end hardware and scale better on higher end. Unlike all the games you mentioned this one actually feels feature complete and fun to play and looks good to boot, but also I have high end hardware and for a more casual accessible game like this one they really need to make sure lower end hardware that meets the minimum requirements can actually enjoy it as well. Currently playing it on gamepass, but they need to roll out at the minimum 2-3 significant performance patches before I'll drop money on steam.
ok, because people who enjoy bg3 let good review on steam

all the game i name were release in 2023, except kerbal 2

kong was released only since one week

i am not confident in november city skyline will pass over 40%

because in my list only 2 of them are really small game, other are big game like blizzard, microsoft and kerbal 2 is supposed to have bigger hype than city skyline 2, the game is supposed to be more enjoyable than city skyline

i really hope paradox going to fix this game before console release

Not saying the game needs to be years old to stabilize reviews. And especially for shorter more linear games the reviews stabilize faster. But Cities Skylines 2 has literally only been out for 5 and a half hours. Any reviews, both positive and negative and gonna have a much larger subjective and emotional lean that reviews posted later on this week.

This isn't the internet's first emotional meltdown over a game launch. I remember Doom Eternal coming out and countless people whining and review bombing cause you had to use more than one weapon and actually prioritize enemy types. And then its second DLC was review bombed because there wasn't a massive spike in difficulty like the first DLC had in some sections.

Got a paradox forum ban for comparing this disaster to Victoria 3 & Imperator Rome lol

Tempted to buy it here, do a negative review and refund it lmao.

And already at 41% now. It's the end of the day and people who actually played the game are giving their thoughts. You can see it in how a vast majority of negative reviews have 0.1 hours or 0.2 hours played and a vast majority of positive reviews have 5 or 6 hours played.
With the state the performance side of the game is in it is impressive it has risen this quickly. People are much more likely to post reviews for games they had a bad time with than those they had a good time with. Atleast 100k people bought the steam version and played today but only 6k reviews. 3.5k negative reviews out of a pool of 100k players is hardly representative of peoples overall opinion of the game. If everyone was forced to review after playing 10 hours. I would say the game would be around 60% to 65% until a performance patch rolls in.

Think what you want about the game but the launch was successful. The launch day player count (not even including game pass) well exceeded and wasn't too far off from doubling the launch day player count of the first game. Even if the technical state was perfect and they released on consoles on time this was never going to sell a million copies on launch day.

You know it's at 41% and climbing for reviews right????? XD

Ryzen 9, 3080 and 64gb ram. I'm playing in 4k with max settings locked at 60fps. No idea what kind of potatos you guys are running but the latest nvidia driver solved my initial bad frame rates. If the driver doesn't help then I don't know what to suggest other than to research what the settings do in relation to performance and visual effect and then learn how to adjust them properly for possibly the first time.

FYI Volumetrics were reported to be bugged before release (I have everything turned on and still fine though), I'm playing in 4k but have amd sharpness sampling turned on, constant resolution turned on and a lowest value of 75% if you want a screenshot of my settings feel free to dm me if you think they will help.

PS. I cannot stream this game as my gpu gets overloaded and obs crashes. It works perfectly fine aside from that but if any of you are trying to stream this game whilst playing in 4k please think again!

If you filter for at least 1 hour of playtime, and people who, you know... actually own or owned the game... it's close to 70% positive

Crazy!

I don't have top of the line but my specs are WAY above min spec and it ran like trash. Paradox advises to turn the people into stick figures, delete the cars, and turn off the ocean and your graphics should be better.

I understand your point but your logic is flawed. People that bought the game (like myself) and found it unplayable are just as valid reviewers. That's like have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ car that fails half the time as soon as it leaves the lot, and then saying only the successful launches matter.

Why do you need at least 1 hour of playtime, specially if you're dissappointed by the performance right from the menu?. And how can you review the game if you haven't owned it?.
