Is it all grey and flat textures? All the vids I've seen look underwhelming
Sorry, this may have been said and done to death already.
I'm definitely going to buy the game but none of the videos I've seen have made me go "oh wow!", they have made me go "oh dear" instead.
I think it's the very flat, grey textures everywhere that make the game look old already.
The game play will be fab so I'll be fine, but, you know, I'm just a tiny bit sad that it doesn't look next gen.

Hmm I agree to an extent - some of the houses and suburbs look very grey. That said, a couple of the maps look pretty awesome - Mountain Village and Windy Fjords look like interesting backdrops to help out a bit.

The legends whisper if you turn off clouds and fog things will brighten up, but who really knows.

Watching quill18 on twitch, there seemed to only be 4 variations of single dwelling homes. It was very underwhelming. The non-90 degree roads were interesting.

It does, turning off at least fog will make the game a lot more colourful.

I think too many people said they want "realistic" houses instead of the colorful cartoonish ones in CS1. At the camera distance you typically play the cartoon houses make a nice visual pattern but the realistic ones become a sea of drab.

I think the low residential houses are the biggest offenders with the excessive amount of concrete and dull roof colors.
From an aerial perspective, it becomes very difficult to tell what zones are what because everything looks like a concrete jungle.

The low residential houses look just like smaller versions of commercial, office and industry buildings, which all look the same as well.

They went too saturated with the first game. It seems like they mostly still kept the modern/futuristic designs, but went too dark and uniform on the colors.

I at least hope the trees in the yards grow. That might make a bit of difference.

I posted about this 2 weeks ago. I completely agree. There is no "color" in the city. Buildings and roads kind of just blend together into this grey blob. This is likely the "artists" fault by either not having the vision to give building and roads distinct color palette. I don't need AI driven pot hole deconstruction or dynamic dust collecting on windows of a skyscraper but there has to be differences for the buildings, road colors. I mean drive around the city you live in now. There's multiple different road types like brick, asphalt, concrete, ect. But here there's only lightly darker grey. The only other reason I could think how this happened is the world "realistic" and went WAY to far with it. They worried so much about rat infestations and paint chipping physics for car crashes that they said "eh well worry about the look later"....later eventually did come and the word "grey" was heavily used in the design documents for the graphic arts.
