How to increase simulation speed?
Hello!
I understand that simulation speed depends on how good my PC is, but after some time it's unplayable. On normal speed 1 sec in game is around 3 in real life. So at speed 3, 1 sec in game = 1 sec IRL. Now I think it's even slower when my city is little above 100k.

Is there ANYTHING that can be done about it? The game itself runs smoothly after adjusting few settings, but it's the simulation that's unbearable. I literally leave the game for two hours on idle just to see some progress. The game is slow paced itself so it takes forever for cims to move in, finish school or do anything else.

My PC meets minimum but not recommended. What should I look at when thinking about upgrading? I am not that tech savvy :steamsad:

AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
RAM 32 GB
Win 10

((Also, C:S simulation was much faster for me, tho I understand in C:S2 it's "better, smarter" and more demanding, but honestly I don't feel like it is))

I have a 3950X (16C32T) and 128 GB of RAM, and 3x is still slow (it's not at 100% CPU either). I don't know that there's anything we can do.

Hi... at least im my system (in the edge of minimun req), low fps slowdown the overall simulation speed. check this screenshots. At left, the devmode ui, look at simulation speed 1x and 8x and the smooth speed. at top right check the fps and the gpu and cpu usage.

I will look into it as well :)

Whaaaaat so you mean you have to wait three irl days for one day to pass in game? Or do you mean one minute in game is one sex irl

It is all quite ridiculous. I have an i7-11700k (overclocked), my CPU maximizes at 100% utilization and simulation speed slows to a snails pace. These optimization issues make CS:2 unplayable after a particular amount of city development.

They didnt test game after 100k looks like...from 0 -100k cpu usage around 80% ~....after 100k is slow af and cpu usage 100%

im the same got a great PC and 3x speed is terribly slow - city of 120k peeps - i just leave the pc on for hours on end now and it takes forever...

With 280k population, i7 13700k usage is around 20%-50% depending on the zoom level. Gpu is 90%-100% (rtx3090)
Ive seen some slow downs for about 1 second when very zoomed and with the screen full of cars and people walking.
For now 3x 2x 1x still works like when started the city.

Is it worth upgrading a i7 12700k ?

im just curios you guys having 100% cpu load with a faster processor how much ram do you got at 32gb with a 8700k im maxing 70percent

You want something good using more cores / threads, or just a generational jump to gain IPC. My aging i7-8700k with 6c/12t struggles at 97% utilization with around 50k pop. Simulation speed takes a hit. Like 17fps (sim, not gpu, use -developerMode to find out etc etc)

Someone just did a test from a i7 12700k to a i7 14700k!

According to the nonsense that is being put out by the delirious fanboys if you have anything less than a 7950x3d and a 4090 then throw that ancient pile of crap out the window. Just yank it. Don't even take the time to unplug it. Launch that useless weak piece of e waste out the window rn.
