Cargo Stations
Can someone explain to me how the cargo stations work? I don't understand it. The single train track goes into the station but doesn't come out the other side. Does the train go in and out on the same track? That doesn't make sense to me. What am I missing here?

you have to set a train route kind of like how buses are done. if you have a outside track connection you can connect it to those. past that I have no idea how they work because every single train tries to use the same side of the double track causing it to fill up and make all trains on the map stuck.

Yes, I made a train route but the tracks that come with the map are double tracks and the one on the cargo station is a single track. I cannot get it to work.

The cargo station is a dead end, it's meant to be a single track. But have a double track running up to it, one in and one out, they will then queue there until your cargo station is empty.

Ok, That makes sense. I will try that. Thanks.

trains will reverse into and out of the station.

Yeah, kinda sad that neither the harbor cargo rail addon and the basic cargo station have a 'through' option. It's created all sorts of awkward problems because I found out after I had built up all around my cargo harbor that the rail is "facing the wrong way". Vanilla cargo hub had rail passing through that you could connect on either (or both) side.

As an aside...my city really started to make a lot of money once I got one of these properly set up.

Same with the airport. (haven't checked out the international airport yet) Track out one side, makes it difficult to work with if you have rail access from the other side. This whole thing annoys me since I don't like seeing the trains run backwards. (No unprotected shoves!) In CS1 I'd build loops and use TMPE's lane connector tool to force them to not cross over at any of the depots, and thus, never reverse. The way things are set up in CS2, this is impossible to do and my (limited) train knowledge makes me very unhappy.

I was having the same issue and was also looking for assistance.
I enabled "Markers" in the dev tools and was able to create this image as a visual.

Here's another image with a train cargo station I use in one of my cities.

Thank you Thalley !! The cargo terminal traffic behavior seems to be random - my trucks switch which entrance/exits they use randomly and I get massive back ups...appreciate the visuals, this helps a ton!

Yes it just, goes in and out the same opening.

In effect, cargo train in this game usually is done the cargo to external point.

There are attempts to do internal freight using trains but it's just doesn't seem to be very well received.

On a side note, Cargo station is only one of the cargo handlers that accept trian both airports and cargo harbour also works the same.

I posted similar screenshots for the cargo harbor here if anyone is interested.
