Seaways and building OVER them...

When I build a seaway it seems to be impossible to pass over. roads, electricity lines, railroads, nothing goes OVER a seaway! Roads and rail can go UNDER by tunneling but I can't get my electricicity lines over the seaways... any ideas?

The only way I got around it with for my highways is to first destroy the seaways in the area, plop down a bridge in both directions making sure the supports line up more or less, then build the seaway cross sections and then connect it all up again.
