Yes there is, just right klick with the zone tool and it will undo the zone, and there is a underground mode you can activate with the destroy tool.

Surprisingly there is a way to remove zones and water pipes.

A) For zones just right mouse click I believe, would have to get into game just to make sure.

B Water pipes - Click on bull dozer then enter underground mode and delete away.

I think the original poster may have been smoking a water pipe and zoning. :)

Surprisingly, the tutorial explains how to remove zones and how to switch to underground mode so you can remove pipes.

I want to delete cell-by-cell, not the entire zone. This is not in the game. And the plumbing is strange that there is no demolition icon during the construction of the plumbing as in the first part. This is also inconvenient.

You can delete cell by cell. It is in game. Just switch mode at the tool panel.

There are three icons to the left of the zone selection. They allow you to change the way in which you zone/dezone. The left one fills in the entire area, the middle one is a drag and drop, and the right one is single square zoning.
