88 C in the main menu after 3 minutes of sitting idle
Just got finished playing Beam.NG Drive Multiplayer -- A game that should get my GPU/CPU nice and hot. That game (ran with HWMonitor open) reached a max of 88 C on my GPU.

This game, after only 3 minutes of launching, I watched the temps steadily rise on my second monitor all the way up to 88C.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Paradox, do you want to fry your consumers hardware? Patch your joke of a game.

My 4090 gets easily over 160 fps on Cyberpunk with Path Tracing and DLSS -- and guess what? It doesn't get to nearly 90 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ degrees.

The LOD issues in this game are pathetic. Why are we rendering each tooth of each citizen? What is the purpose?

Why is my GPU getting sent into ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warp drive on the MAIN MENU???

Unless you're getting throttling because of the temperature, I'd argue nothing is wrong with the 88 C temperature.

This is the only game that causes it. It is also caused by the main menu, prior to rendering any sort of textures or entities. This is not normal, and not acceptable.

Like I said, I can run the ♥♥♥♥ out of any other game -- barely even touches 85C on the hottest days.

But CS2's main menu manages to get it up to nearly 90C within 3 minutes of sitting idle. It makes zero sense. Even if they have some sort of texture preload like the CoD games do -- its still not normal for it to crank up to 90C that quickly.

Well lucky you. Just about every video game I've played has the GPU running up really high. Also, when you load into the main menu you'll see the notifications area say it's pre-loading Virtual Textures.

Edited my original reply to provide more context. That is not my experience. My rig runs cool on every other title. This is the outlier.

Perhaps it is due to the optimizations that still need to happen. Either way, unless you're getting thermal throttling there isn't an issue.

I'm going to play it safe with my overpriced GPU. When Paradox fixes their horrendous optimization, I'll try it again.

Yeah, with a 4090 I'd be worried about the power cables melting.

What type of cooling do you have? I am not sure my GPU has ever gotten over 76 C on anything before.

You might want to better cool and get better airflow in your pc. Game devs can help with high usage on game menus by limiting fps, but yea, it still comes down to poorly cooled pc.

Just normal fans. The card is undervolted too. Cooling has literally never been an issue prior to this game. (But I've always monitored my temps bc I am paranoid about my overpriced card breaking). It should be noted I live in a relatively hot part of the world, so my average temps will be a bit higher than most people's. BUT, that does not change the fact that this is the one and only game that causes this level of heating.

When this is the ONLY game causing this issue -- its not an issue with my hardware.

I feel like a broken record with how many times I've had to repeat this fact.

NO OTHER GAME CAUSES THIS. NOT EVEN CYBERPUNK WITH PATH TRACING.

It is an optimization issue.

Exactly. I did get the corsair cable, which has had zero instances of melting, so I should be okay. It was mostly the cablemod cables causing melting, and in rare cases -- the original cables.

Besides the relaxing city builder setting fan speed to max and turning your computer into a noisy space heater.

And needless hardware wear.

I had a similar issue when Undisputed came out. I updated all of my computers drivers and GPU drivers and the issue went away.
