This is the only game that causes it. It is also caused by the main menu, prior to rendering any sort of textures or entities. This is not normal, and not acceptable.
Like I said, I can run the ♥♥♥♥ out of any other game -- barely even touches 85C on the hottest days.
But CS2's main menu manages to get it up to nearly 90C within 3 minutes of sitting idle. It makes zero sense. Even if they have some sort of texture preload like the CoD games do -- its still not normal for it to crank up to 90C that quickly.
Edited my original reply to provide more context. That is not my experience. My rig runs cool on every other title. This is the outlier.
I'm going to play it safe with my overpriced GPU. When Paradox fixes their horrendous optimization, I'll try it again.
What type of cooling do you have? I am not sure my GPU has ever gotten over 76 C on anything before.
Just normal fans. The card is undervolted too. Cooling has literally never been an issue prior to this game. (But I've always monitored my temps bc I am paranoid about my overpriced card breaking). It should be noted I live in a relatively hot part of the world, so my average temps will be a bit higher than most people's. BUT, that does not change the fact that this is the one and only game that causes this level of heating.
When this is the ONLY game causing this issue -- its not an issue with my hardware.
I feel like a broken record with how many times I've had to repeat this fact.
NO OTHER GAME CAUSES THIS. NOT EVEN CYBERPUNK WITH PATH TRACING.
It is an optimization issue.
Exactly. I did get the corsair cable, which has had zero instances of melting, so I should be okay. It was mostly the cablemod cables causing melting, and in rare cases -- the original cables.
And needless hardware wear.
I had a similar issue when Undisputed came out. I updated all of my computers drivers and GPU drivers and the issue went away.
