Rail Yards

Am I missing something aren't rail yards supposed to recieve and sort trains? Be nice to have the rail yard actually receive trains from outside and within the city as a central collecting point and sort them for deliveries.

Might as well rename the rail yard into the train maintenance facility since that's all they do. Maintain and send trains. They do no sorting work at all.

I put one down and a cargo terminal close to it. Connected them up, nothing. Not a single train. Watched for a while and they just sit there, no trucks arrive, no trains arrive. No idea what I'm missing.
