Post sorting facility isn't doing anything

I was getting behind on mail with my 1 post office so I decided to build a post sorting facility. Problem is it has 0 mail in it and uses 0/10 vehicles. Its just straight up not gathering anything. I don't understand why. Anyone got an idea?

Have you tried placing the post mailboxes? My facility works but I placed those around my city. It doesnt say they are required, but they may be.

Not meant to be stupid questions.
But does your post office have a road connection to your village?
Does your post office have electricity, water and a sewer connection?
And do you have one or more mailboxes in your residential areas?

I have a post office in a village of about 8K inhabitants (now a bit more). There are 7 mailboxes spread out in the residential areas. And things are running smoothly here.

My fire brigade did not want to respond for a long time. But they are now also working as they should. I did assign them a number of districts.
Maybe you could also try that for your post office?

Postboxes are indeed not mandatory because citizens (who live in the area) can also bring mail to the post office. (At least that's the story)
Postal service cars deliver the Post to your homes. And also at companies and shops.

Also unsure whats going on with the mail service, it suppose to give 10% efficiency boost to school for example, but i had been having mail service for so long time, and it is still red negative on school, not gaining that efficiency bonus.... Is mail service working? Or we used them incorrectly?

same issue my post sorting facility has heaps of people working and is at 111% efficiency but in the stats is doing nothing at all

Yes there are no problems with it and mail boxes all over the entire city

Update. I built an educational district to improve my city. Decided "You know what? Would be cool if they had their own post office" so I put one down. NOW several minutes later I see my posting facility sent out 2 trucks to collect mail from my OLD post office. Im so confused

Strange, my sorting facility seems to be periodically operating when theres a pile up

I think its because the post sorting facility is working but only does anything when it gets a delivery of mail, chews through the mail in storage and then goes inactive until next shipment
