How to get more high density?
What can i do to get more high density buildings? I'm reaching 13k soon and i feel like i should have a bit more high res than i do...

-I got good grade school and high school coverage, can't afford to get enough colleges yet tho.

-The only way of getting ot the city as of now is highway. And one bridge only. Im playing on that miami looking ah map with that huge island.

-I got mostly good police/fire/ems coverage.

-Taxes are low for uneducated people, and gradually gets higher for each eduaction level, 10-14%. Can i set these differently in order to force people into apartments?

Ignore demand, high density will be filled over time, just stop building low density or you will fill whole map with it.

Well i can't just leave the city be :( if i decide to build more, i need the taxes to back it up.

I guess it's a land value. People don't want to live in cramped apartments if there are no benefits (services, parks, transportation options etc) in doing so and there is a plenty of cheap land around. But when land value is high they can't afford to pay rent for private homes and move out to more dense zones with higher value but lower per family rent. I'm not sure if it possible to counter those huge 30+ spaceouse home happiness difference with services. But you definitely can couter it with high rent and sway investors to build apartments instead of one-family houses. I'm not completely sure if I'm righ. But it looks like it works in my game.

It's nothing. The game has no simulation system in it. It's just a city painter. The devs scammed everyone.

I found that start with low rent units just a couple of buildings at a time and then then the people in the city seem to be more ok with it, and as you get over 20k population they are quite ok with high density. But as a small town they don't seem to like.

As others have said if you keep building only low density the high density building will never get filled/built as people would much rather live in a spacious house than an apartment.

Dude. There is no simulation of any kind in the game. It's just a city painter. No economy, no simulation of supply or demand of any sort.

you are building a technocratic utopia. You have to educate people and ignore this small house, bcs tiny house are for poor stupid ppl, smart want live in scraptowers.

i think its tied to education and jobs.

I noticed that when you have a higher level of education, which in turn gives you a demand for offices, you get more high density requests.

I also think its broken at the moment as well

I have schools and a college and it still isn't changing. Does one need a university for it to change?

suggestion that worked for me:
allocate spare dense areas, regardless that there is no demand for it.
raise taxes significantly. people will not afford to live in houses and move to high density.

yes, university is top tier education. see if it works.

also, stop building low density housing

I'm pretty sure it's not. High educated citizens able to afford high rent of private houses. I'm sure you get increased high density requests because of increased land value due to better services and surroundings and more developed areas. Everyone prefer to live in comfort but not everyone can afford it.

i think services have an impact.

but what i noticed was, that when i got a request for office buildings i would also get a request for high density.

office buildings are tied to higher education. so i just assume, so are high density.

IRL tho, big city apartments can be and are worth more than suburban homes (see new york state for example)

i think the whole thing is bugged in game, and this seemed to be a work around for me.

I have no university and most of my population lives in cramped skyscrapers. It was hard for me to unlock pop star unique building (for low res zones) because I don't have enough demand for this zones.
