I have tons of mailboxes throughout the whole city and my entire city has excellent coverage.
Yea that's what I've heard as well (and have now noticed). My cargo trains and ships are great with importing goods, but when they leave my city they are empty. Exporting doesn't seem to be working either.
- This also messes up with traffic and trade.
- You are left alone with empty schools, hospitals and unemployed people since they cannot use even the most basic transport to search/attended jobs, classes.
- Also not having mail service is effecting efficiency on industry and trade.
- Buildings are not upgraded. Have -20 happiness just because of undelivered mail.
- Vehicles which are involved in accident does not despawn after road services.
- Broken trucks just lay there for 3 days, pedestrians killed are left on street.
All about spawning. There are some serious problems with spawns/respawns and despawns in game.
Right now my first city is at 180k population after 40 hours of semi-active gameplay.
- Have 235k mail cycle daily.
- 4 sorting facilities
- More than 50 post offices
All this cannot keep up because there are no trucks spawning. Normally they should handle more than 1 million mails. While waiting for bug fix i am just exploring building options and game mechanics. My current map is useless anyway since i sized it completely upon a bugged foundation.
Yea, in another post I mentioned the lack of vehicles in general around the area. The parks look dead. It's like a ghost town out there minus downtown areas where it's just a gazillion parked cars and people walking around. The lack of more vehicles spawning is causing a major concern.
There are places where the graphics show "bad traffic flow" but when you look at them, almost no cars (or just regular flow of cars) are there, no slowing down, no major traffic issues at all.
Some observations:
1) Putting out more mailboxes (1 per block in medium density areas, 1 per building in high density zones) does seem to help but the feedback loop is incredibly slow. Mail processing rate definitely increases linearly with number of mailboxes.
2) I can only ever get one mail sorting centre to work at a time.
3) Spawning postal trucks for collection improved when I assigned post offices to districts
4) I turned off all nonspawning post offices until the ones that were spawning were fully utlilised
5) Once a post office was fully utilised I started reducing the size of its assigned district until not all trucks were required and then focused on getting other post offices to service the areas removed from the original district boundaries.
20 out of 40 vans are sent out by my post office, while having only 16 employees.
About 30 percent of my city is red due to mail piling up. The buildings are everywhere in the city, even next door of the post office.
Adding a bunch of additional mail boxes changed nothing.
