Bus Stops and Bus lines
Maybe I'm just not used to it or just like the CS1 system better, but the new system with bus stops makes it really hard to make clean bus lines. You can no longer place bus stop while making the bus line itself. While this isnt a problem with small cities, anything over 10k pop becomes a jumbled mess of buses making u-turns to reach the next stop. Anyone else feel the old system was better?

Yeah the new system is tedious, unless I'm doing it wrong. As I understand it, you place bus stops and then create routes through them, right? So, if you start making a line and then realize you want another stop or put a stop on the wrong side of the road, you have to exit entirely out of the line creation tool, put or move the stop, then go back into the line creation and start from scratch.

Why did they mess with something that worked just fine?

Can you even add new stops to an active line without having to redraw the whole line?

Yes you can add new stops once a line is created by left click dragging the line to a bus shelter, and you can clear stops you no longer intend to use by right clicking on them just like before. You have to bulldoze bus shelters that aren't being used anymore that you want to get rid of or you can just leave them in place and maybe use them again in the future. Left clicking and dragging the line to a road (not a bus shelter) creates a waypoint instead of a stop. By using waypoints, you can route your buses where you want them to go, like avoiding a busy intersection or sticking to a main road and not cutting through a neighborhood or forcing your routes to run parallel their entire run.

I like the newer system a little better. It's more work to set up, but at the same time, the end result is better. My favorite feature of the bus shelters so far is the fact that in CS1, the "stop" was always in the middle of the segment which meant longer buses or multiple buses would stick out and block traffic. With bus shelters, you can place them anywhere on the segment. So if you're careful when plopping shelters, you can put them in the middle to get the same behavior as before, or on the far end so your buses will pull all the way into the stop lane and not block traffic, or you can be an anarchist and put the shelter at the start of the segment and force your buses to always block traffic when they stop. Use that knowledge however you wish.

Give it time, it just takes a little bit to get used to since it's different from what we have been doing for the last 8+ years.

You can, simply by dragging the line. You can also add waypoints for the bus lines even if they don't have a stop attached, so you can corral your bus routes.

Yeah, I think it's a lot more work.
Also the info panel is much worse, I have to hover over the stop to see how many passengers are waiting, busses are going in a group. Many bugs right now

I like the bus line tool. Yes it is different. you can either place the bus stops first, and then route the bus, or route the bus using way points, and then place the stops along the lines, and drag the line to the stop. The way points is a great addition, as i can get the bus to use the road I want it to use, without putting in an uneeded stop.

The info panel is different, and the only thing I can compare it to is a mod, not the base game. It presents the information needed, just differently. this is not CSI. Adapt to the changes, and do not expect the game to do what it did in the original, or what it did with the mods we all used.

*facepalm* I was looking at the individual the bus lines when I just should have stayed at the transport tab. Thanks for the help!

is it possible to place a bus stop on a one-way street? at the moment it turns the street segment into a dead end at both ends. Anyone else experiencing this?

It just means your buses dont have a way to get back to that stop after they left it . Make sure that one way road either loops or has other 2 way roads connected to it from its start.

Oh good, its not just me lol. I am so confused by the way you do bus and tram routes now. The game runs beautifully for me, but some of the new mechanisms of the game are very frustrating.

I've started doing what you suggested and its helped a good bit. I've found that when you place a bus stop just put a second one across the street so it simplifies having to remember all the stop you placed.

About adding bus stops to existing lines, maybe Its me but dragging the line? In which menu? Please explain it step by step because I can't find it, not even in the specific bus line details screen. Tx in advance.

Found it! In the Transportation menu click on "create a new line" and then got to the existing line and drag. Problem solved.

Thanks for pointing this out! I have been going around in circles trying to find the drag and click.

More work but also more control, nature of the beast. In good news tho, it also means we could get some neat mods for bus stops.
