Subway building tips?

I’ve been trying to build a subway but it has been rather frustrating so far. It’s not really clear how high underground the rail is and it has been an nightmare to connect it up.
I either get an overlap warning with the other rail or the station rail or the line won’t connect because the depth is wrong. Snapping doesn’t help as it snaps even if the depth is off.
But the overlap warning is baffling me, of course it has to overlap, i want to connect the rails. Anyone got any tips or is it just buggy?

When I remember right the underground station is -20m deep ,I made the same mistake ,just remember how deep you build your rails on the bottom left .
