Game on fast NVME OS on separate fast NVME.
Running at 4k default detected setting I was getting about 25fps.
With some tweaking and turning off a few things and everything else on high I now get 60 to 80fps.
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core Processor (12 CPUs), ~4.7GHz
Memory: 32768MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
Dedicated Memory: 24156 MB
Monitor Model: Odyssey G40B
Native Mode: 1920 x 1080
New city plays at 60fps, seldom dips into the low 50's. At around 5k citizens it tends to play at low 50's, dips into low 40's. I notice the textures keep popping in an out, going from high to very low resolution and holding at low res more time that at high.

getting 60 fps by using 1920x1080 resolution on medium settings. Think most of the complaints are people trying to run game at 4k with everything turn on, but using a toaster for a PC

i have most of my settings on high @1080p, with some of the after affects disabled (Depth of field, volumetric, motion blur)
i'am only up to around 10,000 pop runs around 55-65FPS
i have loaded the 100k pop city too for testing avg 40-50 does get down to avg 30 when zoomed into main CBD area.
Cant get past the main menu screen boss.
The game makes my PC lose all GPU drivers. All 3 screens go black and you have to force a reboot to get it back. Awesome game. 10/10 would recommend.
when tested on a save with 100k population I get 25 - 40 fps on high setting depending on how fast I pan and scroll in the city.
If I apply these settings https://old.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylines/comments/17efe6b/your_performance_guide_and_psa_for_cs_ii/ I get around 60fps with occasional drops down to 50
If I set level of detail to medium I loose maybe 5 fps
In the game's main menu my gpu utilization went up to 99%, which is bad for a main menu especially with 53 fps.
Deactivating depth of field was an instant solution. Utilization went down to 45% and fps went up to 60 (limited by driver).
While playing the game I had 60fps most of the time, but the gpu utilization was still a bit too high for my taste, so I set the overall graphics quality from high to mid. This took more stress of the gpu utilization and I guess I leave it there.
I try to find out more hardware demanding features.
Hardware: 7900XTX, 5800X3D, 32GB 3200Mhz
But CS2 is my biggest challenge :D
At first start I thought my GPU is dying in the Main Menu! FANS were spinning up as hell and HotSport Temp greater than 90 degrees. Utilization at 100%. I went into Adrenalin and reduced the power consumption on CS2 over -10% and set Radeon Chill between 30 and 50 FPS. After this utilization was still 100% and no FPS loss, but a more silent and cool system. HotSport now on 70-80 degrees, much better.
After this adventure I downloaded the 120000 pops sample save from gamester and started tweaking the settings. Mostly I did the same what were suggested by influencers, Paradox and the people here in the forum. Deactivated 3 options. Rest on high. Changed anti aliasing settings and reduced detail depth to 35%.
Now I have on 3440x1440 mostly high, 35-50 FPS in a 120000 pops city. It is looking fine and I hope, there will come some improvements on AMD driver side and the optimizations by Colossal Orders.
I started then a new game and I had fun last evening to play and will continue today :)
BUT the current status of the game is terrible and extra 6 months will be better for this game.
I am runing the game on Linux and am having no problems whatsoever. Performance is completely fine for my standards even after 6 hours of playing (graphics settings on high, this is not a game i ever expected or needed to run at 60FPS anyway), no crashes or whatever.
No issues running at 4k with some settings like DOF and motion blur off. Took me about 15minutes to play with settings to get a stable 30fps which I feel is fine for this sort of game, especially at launch.
Nvidia Gerforce RTX 2080 Titan // running at 95% workload.
4x16GB RAM G.SKILL Aegis DDR4-3200 CL16 32GB K2 SW
Additionally I disabled Cloud Qualtiy, Fog, Depth of Field, and Motion blur. Animation Qualtity set to Mid. Overall still enabled Graphic settings are set to High, resp. the High-Preset was used and then altered.
I'm now running at about 45-60 FPS depending on what I'm doing, but gameplay isn't really impacted at all.
I understand that it doesn't work the same for everyones systems, but I've seen people with far better equipment than me complain about performance. Ofc my machine is reaching it's limits as well, and considering there are many updates and DLCs to come, I'll definitely have to make some Upgrades.
For now though, if you're experiencing known issues, I highly recommend changing said settings. I previously had about 30 FPS, and with some graphics modifications, I was able to almost double it.
Good luck
