Do I need 64GB of RAM?
I know the recommended requirement says 16GB, but a friend told me the first CS could use 64GB with mods. If I get 32GB, will that be enough?

Maybe, we don't know yet.

No. That's over kill, 32GB would most likely be all you need for full city gameplay. Vanilla.

Now if you want a game with Mods and countless mods, then 64GB is most likely needed.

16GB is recommended but it's not the true amount the game uses, it could be more.

And of COURSE, you're here like magic. I think you really are on your PC or phone all day.

It's my PC, because I don't have Steam on my phone.

16 will likely be enough as long as you don't mod the game too much or download too many assets. CS1 never went above 8 GB for me (I only downloaded a handful of assets and mods).

If you plan on downloading a ton of mods and assets, you will want more than 16. There really isn't a limit to how much RAM the game can use if you download enough stuff.

I used like 300+ assets and no mods with CS1, even playing on laptop and it got to about 16-20GB. I actually got some decent performance on this ancient laptop. (this played better with the ASUS Vivobook but I am now on an older Toshiba Qosmio X75.)

Cool. 32 should suffice then.

I think it will eat up 32GB easily, but how it affects performance, we don't know.

I see. Opinions are divided. Let us wait then.

UNlikely - I've never seen more than 18GB of my 32GB used in any game or application.

64GB is safer!!! DLCs and assets... I improved 16 to 64 last week just because CS2 : D

Not having a single word or demo or even devblog about optimisation and performance from them considering how bad their last tittle was running when full city is kinda worrying, no day one buy from me until i see how well it's optimised this time.

More ram the better if you want to have lots of assets and mods. Was able to run way more when I upped to 64 gig. Cant magically fit more texture data into the same space. At least ram is dirt cheep right now.
