Luke, *heavy breathing intensifies* as your father, I must tell you that your shenanigans have to come to an end eventually. You need to grow up and step up. All your goofing off being a Jedi and all that, I've been patient, but now it is time for you to be a man. A man that can recognize the difference between two games without asking silly questions on a gaming platform.

Aesthetics apparently. Cities 1 comes across as fun and stylized, where as Cities Skylines 2, based on the current set of pictures, is a bit more on the "realism" side, in a bad way imo.

was thinking the same thing, this type of game do not need a sequel unless there is a big change, like, 2d to 3d etc.

it's like what EA does to the sims, they milk it.

Do we know when CS3 will be released?

In this one you can buy the DLC all over again.

You get to buy several hundred dollars worth of DLC again, that's the main new feature.

the main reason to make a number 2 is to either make the base engine better, or to integrate more features better into the game from the get go, see mods like the traffic ones where you decided how the roads work, imagine that but baked into the game, round about tools inside the game, pretty much just anything that people decided were must have mods but baked into the game so every update doesnt potentially destroy cities till modders get to it.

thats my buy it day 1 or buy it major sale 4 is going to be.

I don't agree fully, to me to do a part 2 of this game it has to have a big difference, they been spamming DLC, the only way tho we'll know for sure is when Skyline 2 drops, but chances are it'll be the same. It's skyline and developers do this.

The difference between the two is one of them doesn't have $400 worth of DLC.

Yet.

Well you don't have to agree fully, but anyone that has at least a remote experience with the programming of large projects such as this, would understand just how f'in impossible it is to make major changes to it even if they seem easy on the surface (such as an overhaul of traffic AI that just was necessary after CS1). You can't just simply "add the new feature" cause everything already depends upon everything and you'd most definitely break things. So the easiest and basically only meaningful way to make such changes properly is to just build it from the ground again...
