From their website:

"A brief comparison of map sizes: A map tile in Cities: Skylines II is smaller than its predecessor - but you are able to unlock almost all tiles, giving you a whopping total of 441 map tiles."

I don't know if that works out to a size larger or smaller than C:S1, but I hope it's larger.

doesnt matter, still 100k pop limit so if its bigger you'll end up with a ton of wasted space.

I hope its actually the same or smaller, so I can make better use of the space.

Only 100k? Where did they say that? That's much lower than C:S1.

well, 1 million if you used mods. I guess 100k I was thinking another game, but with mods, it was still 1 million and it barely used up the map is the point.

can see more details in that thread. The building/prop limit was under 100k, maybe thats what I was thinking of. If you went past that forgot what happened, that only happens probably to modders.

If the map is any bigger, its gonna be even emptier than cities skylines. Its why I never used mods, it made maps too empty when I briefly tried them. Whats the point of downloading 10gb of city mods if you can't put more than 100k buildings/props in the map. Or can't have more than I guess 1 million people. Mods ruined cities skylines for me until I went back unmodded and had a ton more fun.

Mods kept hitting the engine limits, but forgot if it broke my save or not, I remembered something happened in my city cause of mods added too many buildings and think it did hit the limit, and I never used mods for cities skylines after that.

I'd rather have a much smaller map that gets filled in. And I also hope they heavily limit mods, so they don't break the engine limits.

I also find that I enjoy C:S1 more just lightly modded. Actually the only mod I have enabled right now is 25 tiles, along with a handful of road and transit vehicle assets.

CS:2 will be around 172km sq. Bigger than Non modded CS:1. Good for consoles.
For PC users that use 81 tiles, it is smaller. 81 tiles is 300+ km sq. (we will be given info about this at the end of July I think).

If they make the game handle whole map propert without any issues I am ok with downsizing the total map area

Personally I don't mind empty maps. I like to build a city but have a few commuter villages outside where people live and have to travel to the city for work.

Oh, wow. That's actually a bit of a disappointment for me. I hoped maps would be bigger, not smaller.

even seeing through the lag he admitted his PC had the graphics look worse and similar to 81 just tad bigger by 1km or so not convincing since cool real looking building and mods were removed and changed with strict limitations and currently NO weather as promised and cubeboxes/lighting to tinker with plus themes are same/worse than 1 It's NOT WORTH! SORRY SKYLINES 1 IS BETTER

That’s funny. They give you a map and tell you that only a percentage, usually under 40%, is playable. Woohoo! Go CS2!
