Airports? Universities? Etc..
I guess one concern I have is that you are launching the game CS2 but your using the same tactics as you did in CS1. You are going to nickle and dime your fan base to death with continual DLC and Micro Transactions. At a bare minimum I would think you would bring over the expansions that are already in existence now. Mass transit, Airports, Park Life, University, Concerts, Etc... at least for those that have already purchased it. Or maybe offer a discount at for those who purchased them in CS1. I already bought the game but have a fear that this is going to be the outcome... $$$$$$$ be nice if you stopped r*ping your fan base imo. I don't mind paying for music, additional features and some other DLC eventually but to go through the entire process again after dropping $100 on the game already... kind of discourages me.

Also after you have done so much work in CS1 and all the updates etc... why not bring your best features over? Will be watching to see what happens but will also be ready to warn of this predatory tactic being repeated.

From what I've seen alot of things from mods and DLC will be included in the base game, but not all, We'll still get a Mass Transit DLC and a Nighttime DLC, and a parklife DLC to flesh out whats in the game already.

Do you not understand what microtransactions are? It's not DLC. Microtransactions are in-game purchases with real currency. While you're playing the game.

Cities Skylines 1/2 has no microtransactions.

Not this mans buying the DLCs then raging about it. My guy, you don't NEED to buy them. You chose to buy them.

I think CS2 will have a lot of DLC features, but not all of them. Bikes is confirmed to not coming, while ships, planes and trams are confirmed coming. I think I would rather have a CS2 with features that connect to each other, than just try to shove everything in.

I am more interested in the features that will come, interact with the new features. Planning disasters base on seasons? Seasonal diseases? Maybe even planning air route to avoid thunderstorm? If they literally clone CS1 DLC to CS2, then sure they deserve the backlash. But if it is upgraded version with better visual and quality, then take my money if I want them.

if you watch some of the Youtubers who look for every little clue they can find a lot of the DLCs from the first game will be in this game. Like Industries. Also there is a plane Icon so I am guessing you will get some form of airports to start off with and it appears the university is in the base game if you look at the trailer it appears that the university is a modular type building like the power plant. One youtuber also pointed out in one of there videos that I looks like you can see part of an airport and ships look to be in the base game as well is in one of the shots you can see ship cranes with a container yard behind it.

Don't put your emotions behind my words, I never raged about it I was simply pointing out some facts, but i'm glad such an innocent question can trigger your nerd ragging so hard

Also I'd consider the music packs at 2.99 a micro transaction since its under 5 bucks. Micro means small not in game. Maybe you should educate yourself

I can get behind that, I know there are going to be DLC there always are and just like I bought 85% of their dlc's for CS1 I will most likely buy these ones, just would be nice not to have to drop $200+ for things I already have. So as long as there are improvements I would gladly pay for them, but I feel given the vastness of some of the old DLC it will be hard for them to deliver in a way that makes me feel like it was justified. Having said that I would be happy to be 100% wrong and blown away with the DLC's to come.

I noticed that as well in the trailer, and I think they mentioned it. Either way its going to be an amazing game and i'll be happy to support the devs with their endeavor as I have in the past. I am most excited thus far for the roads and the new building capabilities with those such as pedestrian streets, adding removing sidewalks, and building through multiple streets but my fave is the multi story highways.... I can not wait.

AS thongtran1311 stated below your comment as long as its fresh with additional features I am down like a clown but I don't want simple drag and drop with reworked skins and same functions. I want more more more.

I think the DLCs for CSII won't be as critical as CSI. We have a decent amount of DLC items from CSI that have been confirmed for the base game in CSII, and I think the modding community can make up for any cool features of new DLCs, especially if they're small like the already announced ones.

If you remember Network Skins, it basically gave about a quarter of the entire mass transit DLC. I also remember a lot of tram vehicles and roads were just reskinned to make faux trolleybuses.

So I think we don't have to worry too much about missing out on huge features from DLCs.
Paralax Jun 28, 2023 @ 10:35am
it would be awesome if they would implement those. Maybe not all of them but most of them it would be cool.:chirp:

Well you can now preorder the Bridges and Ports expansion scheduled for Q2 2024, so you know...that means you aren't getting all the existing features of CS1.

This reads like "I want the work worth 8 years of time and hundreds of dollars for free". The kind of game you want would take decades in development and would never justify the budget, not to mention would grow technically obsolete even before the release.

Why do you believe you're entitled to a discount? Is it like the code and assets being 1:1 copy/pasted from CS1? As I'm pretty sure it's not the case.

CS2 is a new platform with an update to game design, graphics and quality of life. The reason it exists is because there's always limitations to what mods and expansions can do. Naturally, we'll have all the things you mentioned "nickle and dimed" to us over the course of the next decade. Because if we're not going to fund the continued development - who's gonna do it for us? How's it gonna be commercially successful if they're going to give discounts to the target audience such as yourself?

I think it boils down to deciding for yourself whether all the features they show in the videos this days are worth of subscribing to the new platform. Like the road building, the AI and the traffic. Of course, it's a big commitment as we all understand it will be pretty bare bones on release, just like every PDX game tbh. So if those do not sound appealing enough for you then you might as well stick to CS1 where you already have everything bought, I guess?

"How about the fact that many of us already have supported the development of all the features that are currently in CS1? SO maybe at minimum at least include all those or offer a discount to those who support the development of ALL content? It's nothing for free.. its already been paid for. To say a rework, re-skin, or re-code is needed or that they have to reinvent the wheel is just stupid thinking.

AS I mentioned and will continue to if you're able to comprehend that would be wonderful, I will most likely buy them so long as they are not copy and paste, but as many others have pointed out and we are starting to see the graphics are not "Superb or amazing" we already had better graphics with mods in CS1, the water is ehhh at best, and they already have numerous addo ns announced for things that we already paid for to be developed.

So while the new AI is worth it, the road building should have already been implemented as its been a main concern for years.

Work on your comprehension my friend. What I am asking for is nothing crazy, its simply getting what we have already paid for to be developed, I can tell by your response how little you've supported the devs.
