you are right
no its not , and will never be the same.
they could also randonly connect the main interstate from one edge to other edge that would not be that hard.
Transport Fever 2 has pretty good terrain generation and you can export heightmaps from that generator!!
https://www.transportfever2.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gamemanual:mapeditor#export_a_heightmap
But CSL1 also has a terrain generator mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=497439640
Though I think TpF2 has better map generation.

Because of this you have devs that don't know derivatives, and denominators that are measured by death waves. I'd be damned if they knew the difference between a radicand and a root. There is no way they are going to do another stock exchange DLC. And you know why?
Because they have no hope of possibly achieving any level of realism without a billion compromises. They are not going to add algorithmic trading to Cities Skylines, or have citizens that attempt to invest in your country. And you know why? Because 401k's are considered an abridgment of the social security ponzi system, and are consigned as one of the "enemies" of capitalism.
Meanwhile governments with a billion conflicts of interest now get to decide how you get to spend YOUR money. And then demand more. While people call for its expansion because it's the only solution they've lived with their entire lives. If Europeans had a better grasp on math, they would not have had all these fuel shortages, and food issues. But here we are.
There's a reason most fortune 500 companies are in the U.S. and math certainly is a part of it, but education, and being able to speak an open-mind is another. And trust me, there is 1st amendment in many European countries. You would get called every label under the sun if you tried to propose an American-style 1st amendment in any European country, and don't get me started on the regulations. It's all sickening.
And want to know what laws they have that control the EU? Look at all the laws they have against freedom of speech or criticizing leaders, heads of states, etc. They will confiscate, lock you up, and force you into compulsory psychiatric treatment, and every prescription under the sun if you offend a few certain influential people. But pro-Hamas terrorist get special protections. Insane.
It would be very nice
