Successful city builders have always been single player experiences. Leave it at that.
Also you guys are acting like simcity societies wasn't a single player flopped reboot attempt.
Blaming Sim City 2013's failure on MP alone is short-sighted, it was also 10 years ago on a worse engine/platform.
Just don't make it mandatory like EA did.
There is enough space to build multiple cities and Smaller towns that produce certain stuff to move then by rail or Semi-Trucks. Already possible in CS 1.
And This game is one of the less exceptions where i don't need a multiplayer. I play MP only most of the time. IF they find a way to sync it well like Anno 1800 i'll might play with a friend or two but it should not be a Number 1 Priority for release. As someone said: Something with Demand he said and all the stuff C:S 1 included.
AND TRAFFIC MANGER TOOL !!!!!!
Most, if not all, of the problems that SimCity experienced were consequences of the focus on multiplayer. It was a real tragedy because the actual city building parts of the game I think were better than Cities Skylines. The zoning conforming to the roads and the modular buildings, combined with the beautiful art style were all amazing. Plus, I miss the wacky disasters like Godzilla, Killer Robots, Zombies, and Alien Abductions. It was a tenth of a five star game and Cities Skylines was a whole four and a half star game. The biggest thing keeping SimCity from still being on the top was the toll taken from making Multiplayer the main focus.
EA just shot Maxis in the foot and told them to run a marathon. They didn't understand what made City Builders so great and Colossal Order did, which is exactly how they dethroned SimCity with what had to be less resources at the time.
