Not trying to start a flame war, but I find that very hard to believe, even people with top of the range i7's notice lag late on, everyone gets it, its the game engine. Its a known issue, the game would need a total re-write, even the 2nd game gets it as it uses the same engine underneath, the devs even acknowledged the issue years ago, but it was developed when single/dual cores were still common cpu's, so at the time there was no real need to support multiple cores. (dual cores are kind of supported but its kind of down to windows running some processes on the free core, while the game hammers the other core).
Perhaps you simply do not notice the slight lag/slow down, the same way some people can play games at 30fps fine, but others cannot stand playing with less than 60 etc.
As I say its most likely you just do not notice as much, its not a slight on you, different people can just put up with different frame rates, As I mentioned its the same way some people can play games like first person shooters with lower fps's fine while others have an issue if a game drops just a few fps lower than 60 etc
If you had an fps counter going, I am sure you would see quite a drop, if not so much visually :)
The latest version of the game already has the large memory address patch in it, while it does help, You still get slow down simply due to how the engine uses basically 1 core.
True however if you field less units, there is less the ai is having to work out, so its all relevant, also getting rid of dead units helps as I believe the ai still plots them.also if the engine actually used all of the cores of peoples cpu's you should be able to get to end game without hitting the slowdown (depending on cpu obviously).
Its very simple, all you have to do is; launch game > Tab out > Task manager > more details > right click of supreme commander > go to details > find the game and right click > set affinity > uncheck the core zero.
this fixes a wide range of lag and stuff in many games and has become my goto fix attempt. this fixes the problem mid-late game for me, but i only have a 4 core cpu, (the game uses 3). the lag should theoretically come back once you reach the limit of your cpu, but also theoretically, that should take 3x as long, at least for me.
Let me know if this worked for you.
