Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

cannot change resolution
so i got a new screen with a resolution of 1920 X 1080, meaning that i have had to re-set the resolution on most of my games by either starting the game in windowed mode, or if that is not possible, i have had to change the resolution in the games prefs file under %appdata%, if i do not do either of the two, my screen will go "no signal" when i start the game, and it has worked fine so far, but i cannot get it to work with SupComFA.

i open the game.prefs file, and by default it shows this for resolution:
options_overrides = {
primary_adapter = {
default = '1024,768,60',

now i change it to my resolution, so it now looks like this:
options_overrides = {
primary_adapter = {
default = '1920,1080,60',
then i save the file, close it, start up SupCom, and it still says "no signal" so i go to look at the file again, and it has gone back to being 1024,768,60 instead of the 1920,1080,60 i set it to.

does anyone know what to do? alternatively, is there a way to set the game to windowed mode without starting it up? thanks

I know this is a half-year old thread, but I've been googling around the same problem, and this thread comes up repeatedly, so I'm assuming others are coming across the same thread in their searches, so I'll add my fix here.

I found that if you delete the game.prefs file FIRST, and then run the game, it will still act up, but create another game.prefs file as part of its "first run setup". After closing the game forcibly through task manager, edit the game.prefs file as shown in OP's post, and run the game. It SHOULD work, but here's the catch... it will only work ONCE if you do not do the following...

While the game is running, create a profile, and once created set your video options from within the game. Here's the important part: The game still has the default resolution set... so if you were to close the game without changing it, it would forever keep rewriting the game.prefs file on launch with the default resolution. All you've done so far is force it the one time to launch in the resolution you want. If you set the resolution in-game, however, it saves that as the default and will load in that resolution from that point on.

For reference: game.prefs is located in the C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\<GAME FOLDER>

This worked for both SC and SC:FA, and I hope this method helps others who stumble across this thread.

Tried doing this, but it's my first time run so the folder outright doesn't exist yet as it's generated at launch.
