SU:FA + mods LOUD AI

a few years ago before i went over to linux i was playing su-fa with a mod called loud ai, is it still the best to expand the vanilla gameplay with maybe a few extra units that are well-balanced with better ai?

secondly, if this is still true how do i go about all this when using proton in linux mint?

Development has still been ongoing with LOUD, though it's tough to say that it's really similar to vanilla SCFA. There have been continued tweaks to the balancing of structures & units as well as a lot of improvements to the LOUD AI. Structures & units from several popular mods have been balanced to be played together & come as part of the LOUD install.

As for linux, I do believe there are a few LOUD players that play on linux. Come join the LOUD Discord (https://discord.gg/P9S7GURU) & ask about it in the faq-n-help-me channel.

You may also want to have a look at FAF. Afaik you can have vanilla SC:FA, LOUD and FAF in parallel using separate game profiles.

that's purely for multiplayer online?

you can play completely alone vs bots in FAF just as easily as you can here on steam, and it has its own better-than-vanilla bots too, it isn't multiplayer-only

Only I would suggest to install LOUD manually, from their official package https://eu.theloudproject.org/

and then extracting it in proton directory, somewhere under /home/<user>/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/9420 or /home/<user>/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/ I don't remember exactly, anyway the directory where main game executable is stored.

Note to fellow over-eager downloaders: https://eu.theloudproject.org/ has a LOUD.7z link available. The complete part of its description is accurate. You'll get a massive 1.1GB 7z file, 75MB of which is SCFA_Updater.exe. You might know what to do with the rest of the contents - I did not.

Apologies for re-hijacking this thread but could some kind soul post an invite to the LOUD discord?

• running Linux so I don't think I can get there via the launcher
  
• I nuked my old SSD and when I log into Discord with a fresh install I don't see the LOUD channel (or whatever Discord calls it.)
  
• It would be better nettiquette to inquire on moddb but they have (or want to) reset my password due to inactivity
  
  • I hate new passwords - I've not found a cross-platform solution I feel I can trust
    
  • Most days I love Linux but other days I concede it can be a hassle

Well, here I go again. Could some kind soul post an invite to the LOUD discord?

Took a [2] month hiatus when I didn't open supcom or discord. Now the LOUD [channel] doesn't show up in my Discord client.

Haven't updated LOUD yet. Eager to try the M81 M28 AI.
