"Is it possible to make engineers auto rebuild anything they can find ?"
No.
Engineers are functionally retarded. They can't do anything right and need constant supervision and ctrl+k when they get themselves stuck. If there's anything they can fail at while unsupervised then that's what will happen, for everything that they can fail at.
Construction:
-build patterns exist but can't be altered in their order once saved or set up unless canceling and ordering all changes individually
-build on top of same-structure ruins to save construction time and resources, alternatively click the repair button and then on the destroyed structure with a unit that knows how to construct said structure
Engineers don't use their reclaim- and construction range properly but always drive too close, blocking other engineers and potentially the construction space. They also don't update their construction orders properly and sometimes waste time trying to construct something that's already there.
Gathering:
-either use attack-move, patrol paths or assist on an area to have the engineer auto-gather everything in range but once resources are well stocked up (but not at 100%) the engineer will abandon the task it was intended for, unless you manually assigned every single object that it should gather, and contribute to resource drains by trying to assist something, or, if it's an engineer with a weapon, chase after enemies even if the weapon is on "hold fire" mode
Engineers can bump themselves and other units into structures, where they're then stuck and unable to move, as well as units out of their protective shield bubbles. In case their current construction project gets destroyed instead of completed, and it was part of a construction queue, they'll not retry that but act as if nothing happened and try to build the rest, those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fools.
There's also no way to restrict engineers from unintened tasks, neither individually nor based on unit type, as there's no toggle option to enable / disable
-resource gathering
-repair support
-construction speed support
Unfortunately not possible, FAF has some features like just hovering over empty mass deposit while an engineer is selected auto selects mass extractor to build over, you have to turn it on in options ingame. But nothing like auto queuing buildings.
As for what I think your "question" might have intended to allude to...
More importantly you can select several structures and save them as a blueprint so you can build complex sets of structures. Instructions for that are available in your nearest search engine. As others have stated, there is no way to fully automate them to go explore and build metal.
If you assign an engineer to patrol an area or attack-move in a direction, they will reclaim any wrecks/natural resources they come across and assist any unfinished blueprints they encounter as they go along
