Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

Add to beginning of build queue
Holding shift, you can queue up commands. Is there also a way to tell an engineer/unit to stop what they're doing, do this, then go back to what they were doing before? Like for example if I need a building right now and they've already got a list of commands to follow and I don't want to cancel it all and have to re-issue all those commands again.

You can do that with factory queues if you add a unit to the end of the queue & then drag it to the front, but that ability isn't available for engineers/builders.

Not to my knowledge. However, if that building happens to be in your build queue you can press Ctrl+Shift+Rightclick on individual orders to delete them so you can get rid of all of the planned stuff (even assist and move orders) and skip ahead to the building you want. The rest of your build queue stays intact, but you need to reissue the things you deleted.

For example, I've queued up an airgrid alternating between T3 airfac and T3 Pgen, and somehow I need the power first now, By pressing Ctrl+Shift+Rightclick I can make the engi stop building the airfac he's working on to go straight to the Pgen and I don't need to reissue the entire airgrid. I'd like to put the partialy build airfac second, but that doesn't work.

On a sidenote, this can be used to hasten build queues where you put alot of engis to assist one engi with all the orders (foreman). After they finish one building, some are usually in the way of the next building, blocking the start of construction. This can take them a lot of time. If you delete the building from the order of the foreman, he tries to start the next building, so the others already start making space while they finish construction of the former building.

No, because that'd be practical with such a queue feature, so the game doesn't have it. You can't change the build order of build patterns either, neither before nor mid construction, unless doing everything manually.

No.
I know exactly what you mean and have often found it missing, but no. The engineer works through its list of things like a unit going through a set of waypoints. And like with those, you can not insert new ones at the front (or anywhere other than at the end).

Not sure I follow your logic there. Are you really saying 'because that would have been good and devs do not want us to have nice things'? Or is there something more to it?

The only good thing about FA is that it fixed a memory bug. The only good reason to get FA is because it's where the modders are because of this fixed memory bug. Otherwise it's a downgrade compared to SupCom and essentially an unpolished beta. They created a new game with a new UI but didn't improve the unit handling. At least fixing pathfinding should've been on the list, or fixing the units-shooting-the-terrain bug, or having nukes and tactical missiles as ground-target instead of object-target attacks or being able to assign engineers to the intended tasks ONLY instead of them deciding to do stupid shít all the time and failing to update their action queue properly etc.
