Sorian AI v1.9.7 not compatible?

Whenever I try to use Sorian AI v1.9.7, the lobby enhancements break the game such that whenever I choose Skirmish it tries to "connect" to something and never recovers. If I remove just the lobby enhancements SSCD file, this doesn't happen, so that file is responsible. The mod info for it says that it's compatible with up to game version 1.5.3599, but the current game version is 1.6.6, so I assume that this is the problem.

Is there a version of Sorian AI somewhere that is compatible with the current game version 1.6.6? I also have Sorian AI v1.6.3, which doesn't seem to cause the problem even though it's supporting the same game versions as v1.9.7.

1.6.6 is the Steam version of the game - and it has additional libraries and code to support the Steam matchmaking service. This makes it fundamentally at odds with many versions of Sorian (which all pre-date Steam).

While there are not many changes between 1.5.x and Steam, lobby code and connectivity is where most of the changes lie. The last version of Sorian, that I recall supporting before I migrated over to Steam, was versioned as 2.1.2

The only two Sorian versions that I have found are 1.6.3 and 1.9.7. The latter is one that has an EXE installer like the last version I used with the non-Steam version of the game, but the former is direct manual install into \gamedata and replaces the 03_lobbyenhancement.scd file with an 01_aisupport.scd file. Since 1.6.3 lacks most of the lobby tweaks that 1.9.7 has, it doesn't barf and try to "Connect..." to something that doesn't exist, but it still supports selecting the Sorian AIs.

I poked around in the lobby LUA code of 1.9.7 a bit, but I lack the experience to know what if anything I could do to fix it. I could try trial and error with a hatchet, but I'm sure it would be more error than trial.

Sorian AI v2.1.2, with the lobby enhancement v4.6, does appear to work with the current game version. I'm trying it out right now.

BTW, that Google Code archive page includes ALL the versions, going waaay back: you probably missed the multi-page selector at the top of the list. :-)

I use Sorian AI v2.1.2 with the lobby enhancement v4.6. Also use DuncanE's AI 2.6.2. for the normal AI. Works fine for me.

Where did you find DuncanE's AI recently? I have not seen it. I once had it pre-Steam.

Try the M27AI Mod. Its pretty good. M28 is also pretty good, but its lets polished at this time.
