AI mod to use for FA?
I've never modded the game once since it came out. Was thinking of getting an AI mod, but I haven't the slightest clue what of the hundreds of AI mods from like 2013 are the "best" ones. Most info is outdated... I hear Sorian and Loud a lot.

I was not asking *what* Loud was.

That's not helpful in the slightest. As you can tell by my post, I've already been scouring over Google looking at dozens of AI tweaks, including Loud. (Hence the reason it was mentioned along with Sorian AI...) So I kind of already know what it is... I wasn't asking *what* Loud is. I was asking for the opinion of what people consider to be the best AI mod for FA.

The vast majority of info is outdated as many mods are quite old, and forums abandoned. Even the FAF Discord wasn't responding, as the last message there was from last Sunday. Hence me asking Steam discussions their opinion on the "best" AI mods/tweaks.

As I'm sure there is a veteran or two who knows modding inside and out, as they've been doing it for a decade, and will know left from right, and what's appropriate/compatible/most desirable.

A bot that Googles Loud is not... helpful. I'm already aware of its existence, otherwise I would not have mentioned it, lol. Was hoping someone could provide some insight into the community's preferred AI tweaks. A few I was able to rule out, as they were last updated in like 2015, and aren't compatible with mods like Total Mayhem and other popular mods that FAF people tend to use. For instance, Gary's tweaks, although it looks great, is from 2013, and likely... not going to work that great.

For those still reading, what's your preferred tweaks? Is there a community standard? Like an AoTR for SupCom? I have no experience in the field. I can talk all day about C&C enhancements, but I've never touched a SupCom with mods ever. I'm entirely unfamiliar with the progression of SupCom modding since 2007, and most stuff is from dead forums nearly a decade old... FAF has been a bit difficult to get a response out of, so I'm mostly shooting in the dark when testing AI tweaks, and finding out whether or not they still work, or were left with glaring issues. Like one that broke transports entirely as it was abandoned in 2014. They... however didn't post that to the forum, but only to the Moddb page... Which I didn't find until after testing the mod.
if you would look at the moddb page that google will provide you with then you will notice that loud is not outdated at all - they push updates almost every week which you can get by using the LOUD launcher (download link is in the moddb page as well as a link to the loud discord where you can ask loud related questions) - most people on faf don't care about loud since faf is for the most part about playing against other people and not about playing against the ai which may be the reason why nobody responds to you if you ask about loud in a faf related discord

if you would read even harder then you would see the pretty extensive loud forum thread on the faforever forum - https://forums.faforever.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=14136 where you can read up about lots of things related to loud

the faf forum has a new small sub forum for ai modding - https://forums.faforever.com/viewforum.php?f=88 - also not hard to find if you just read a bit where you may notice that there are 2 more faf specific ai mods (Dilli AI which is an ai that spams lots of units which might be good at smaller land maps and Uveso AI)

can't be arsed to go over all the details of loud/sorian/dilli/uveso ai since it's all been said/written down before

there is no such thing as "the best" since most mods try to do different stuff

As the primary author of The LOUD Project I have to agree with Philip. The real question is what you want to get from the AI ? If you're looking for a doormat to shoot at, the Vanilla AI will serve well, allowing new players to get a feel for the mechanics of the game.

The Sorian AI, which was pretty much the gold standard for a long time, dealt with making the AI somewhat effective, and will give a somewhat competitve game but only at very high cheat levels. The most important aspect of Sorian is that it set the precedent for the kind of things that could be done with the AI as far as modding is concerned.

Everything since, including LOUD, is based upon the work found in Sorian. While both the dilli and uveso AI are recent incarnations built primarily for the FAF community, LOUD has been under development for six years and features an AI that responds intelligently to all situations (so no need for Rush/Turtle etc. variants) but is built around an extensive re-write of the core systems that give LOUD it's superior very large game performance. To that end, its considerably different than the stock game in a large variety of subtle ways. LOUD includes subsets of the most popular mods (Total Mayhem, Black Ops, BrewLAN and 4DC) which have been specifically tailored for the LOUD environment. This approach eliminates the need for most 3rd party mods and the associated desyncs that often accompany that.

I hope that helps somewhat.
