it's just the biggest supcom community used by thousands of players for years
edit: i use the client (got the pyhton and the java client installed) and i help the devs with testing stuff they add
also: the project is open source[github.com] so everyone can look at the code or make PRs that the devs can look at to implement
about random antivirus software: it just happens from time to time to get false positives
btw if you feel like using a client is too much of a burden to gain access to the content that FAF provides then feel free to write a website that does it instead of the client! All contributions to the FAF project are welcome (but you may wanna keep in mind that lots of FAF content is not compatible with the retail/steam FA version due to the changes that have been made to the game in FAF already)
Posted it up on the FAF Forever forum, but in the meantime anyone over here know what might be the trouble?
the difference between steam FA and FAF is the server/client and all the features they provide (eg mod/map vault, autodownload of missing sim mods for people who join a lobby, replay vault etc etc) and 5 additional years of development[github.com] to fix bugs and improve the balance
