Turning all the graphics settings to full (which my two computers can handle) seems to fix the crashing, I don't know about the sync errors because i haven't played anyone in a while.
But yeah, If your computers can take it, Crank the settings up (if you haven't already).
If it works i'd love a techie to explain why.
will make sure they do though
Other than that i can only suggest to let someone host who doesn't have your issue.
I just checked back on FAForever.com (it's been a while ^.^;), and there are two different versions of the lobby - the stable ("official") one and the alpha one. All players must use the same version of the FAF lobby in order to connect to the same game.
I might as well link the FAF documentation for connection issues here as well:

On a side note, the vanilla steam version's multiplayer works fine, but I was wondering, when we played seton's clutch, on the pre-game lobby map we would always click the grey commander slot where we wanted to start and it would move us to that slot in the lobby, but when we actually launch the match it throws all the players in random start locations, even the AI. Also the start position icons don't change to your color when you click them, but it does change what slot you are in. Its weird lol
If the spots on the map preview are greyed out you have the spot settings on random/balanced instead of fixed.
