If it is just with FAF try disabling all other in game mods.
Try raising the games process priority in task manager a level higher.
I used to have mods but i removed them. AND reinstalled the game 3 different times. And i just tried raising game process priority. didn't help. Im gonna try updating the drivers and see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestions though.
i spent a while searching around on their forums and cant find a solution that will work.
Also not sure what Redistributables SC uses other than DirectX.
Maybe check if it uses Visual C++ redistribtable and repair or reinstall that too??
I did go through and delete hidden folders last time i reinstalled. I found the ones in appdata and the mygames folder are there any others?
appdata/local/gas powered games
appdata/roaming/forged alliance forever
If you do end up reinstalling it might be an idea to unistall FAF also, reboot and go into your Registry and search for any folders left over and delete these also:
Supreme Commander Forged Allaince
Gas Powered Games
Forged Alliance Forever
Then reinstall.
You say your hardware is fine and you have updated your drivers ect so not sure where else to point.
I had an issue with ingame sound a few weeks ago and it was linked to Directsound in windows. It was fixed just by a simple reboot but others needed to go into BIOS disable and re enable sound from there to fix it.
Could it be an issue caused by your sound i wonder.
Some games can lag and stutter due to sound problems so maybe go into your Device Manager and just Disable your sound, Realtek, Nvidea or whatever and try the game without any sound??
Just throwing a few things to try that have worked more then i care to mention over the years.
You could try running it as Administator.
You could maybe run it in compatibility mode as its an old ish game.
Ill go through and try those later tonight. thanks for all the suggestions. i hope one of them works
Been busy and i havent had a chance to try them. ill get to trying them this weekend
It happens everytime I play.
The game has been installed fine for a long time - I worked fine until i updated my nvidia drivers.
I'll try the bios thing.
