I'm not sure if there is a solution, but considering Alt+Tab works fine for everyone else, I suspect there is a change that can be made somewhere that will fix it.

If it's worth the effort, you can try the following, closing and launching the program again after each step:
04. Launch with administrator privileges
05. Launch in windowed mode
06. Launch in compatibility mode
07. Launch in 640 x 480 window size
08. Back up then delete any associated ini file (if this does not fix the problem you may want to restore the backup)
09. Delete any profiles or similar systems

If you would like some more details on any steps, just ask. I have more suggestions as well if these turn out to not work, but we'll get to those after.
Thanks will try out this weekend!

05. is a good option, I often play in windowed mode as I have dual monitors and like to browse/watch vids while play, unlike some game windowed mode is really not bad, and the machine does not need to taskswitch as such when swapping windows.

My game crashed too when alt-tab and was likely to crash when I received a notification in another program, such as Skype or Telegram, possibly because the notification triggered something similar to a manual alt-tab. Just enabled windowed mode, and been playing for an hour without problems.

PROTIP: install Borderless Gaming software if you haven't done so before so you have your windowed mode without the ugly borders.
