Does it work with the latest retail/steam version or FAF only?

Also does anyone know if it's possible to just get the additional units?
I don't want any of the balance and mechanics changes.

I only use FaF to get maps so I can't say for sure and the only mod I use is Sorians AI. I have no problems with the Steam ver. As far as just units, I don't believe so without using the whole mod.

if you take a look at the changelog you'll see a lot of changes that affect regular units too so unless you scrap those out yourself you'll have to take them together with the units
