So many complaints about the flower look...
If you read this article page: https://www.pcgamesn.com/far-cry-new-dawn/interview-world-superbloom
You'll see how they came to the idea of the super bloom. The complete lack of 'living' plant life, along with the absence of most other life, never made scientific sense in games like Fallout. Plants can be incredibly hardy and adaptive.

I don't think people would even care if the flowers were all blue and yellow. They just see pink and purple and decide that Ubi is trying to turn them gay or something.

We already have a seven page thread about the colour of the flowers.

Yeah the issue with Fallout happened with the 3rd installment of the game. Bethesda's fault, really. This game looks fantastic and somewhat realistic.

As I said in another post: I'm a straight male and I quite like neon pink. I use neon pink and black in almost every game I play that allows it. Most of my warframes are pink/black. And even during the Anthem demo my Storm was pink and black for a bit, until I got bored of the blah pinks they allow and changed it to a deep purple.
In the 1920's, pink was a 'masculine' color :P
I even have a neon pink shirt that says "I'm only wearing this shirt because my executioners robe has blood on it". I love that shirt :)
I never really understood why it mattered, lol.

I know right? Flashy and deadly, why not. I am personally partial to purple after playing a lot of Saints Row. Though nature looking vibrant and colorful after a nuclear war is not unnatural at all, Take a look at the forests and nature surrounding Chernobyl, for example (not exactly a dropped a-bomb, but close enough).

Purple is my favourite colour. Has been since I was a toddler. My sister was born when I was nearly 3 years old and initially I didn't like her because she wasn't purple.

I've never played a Far Cry game. The bright technicolour look in this game made it worth a closer look. Although I'll have to install UPlay.

I enjoy the idea of superbloom much more than the idea of supergrey/brown. Plus I don't really follow today's society trends. Meaning I don't see purple and pink as "gay" colors. (Yes, I am very special, I know) I am a guy and I really LOVE the color purple. Probably my most favourite. Pink's also pretty great, but the neon type, not the washed out red kind of pink.

uPlay isn't all that bad anymore. It was literal cancer when FC3 came out for example. But it's okay now, you hardly notice it.

I already pre-ordered it on steam. Will I have to get uplay, as well? I hope not...

And as for them being 'gay' colors... I had two 'aunts', Pearl and Stacy, before I knew the term lesbian. Neither related to me, and they were a white and black couple. I can only imagine the crap they had to go through in the 80's. I only ever saw them in red, brown, and various shades of green. Lots of camo stuff, too. They constantly wore flannel and even played softball, lol. They were the actual stereotype. They both hated pinks, purples, and other 'soft' colors as they called them.
And I had Uncle Bobby (blood related) and Aunt Doug (blame Mrs. Doubtfire. "Uncle Frank and Aunt Jack" stuck with me when my family saw it in theaters, because my mom leaned over to us and told us to call Bobby and Doug that and they both loved it). The only ones who knew they were a couple, or even gay, were my family and Doug's family because they didn't flaunt it. Bobby had a runners build, and wore a lot of light blue, brown, and black. Doug had a beer belly and I swear he only owned jerseys, lol. I only ever saw him in sport team clothes. Neither liked red, let alone pink.
I've lived with three different roommates over the years who were gay, and they brought people home. I never brought it up first. And when it WAS brought up, I always said "As long as you don't hit on me, I don't care" and we were golden.
So in my whole life, I've only ever met a single gay person who was obsessively pink all the time. And I actually think they did it more out of spite than enjoyment. They were one of those "I'm shoving my life choices down your throat" types. But they were also 6'6 and built like a brick wall, so no one bothered them.

So claiming pink is 'gay' makes very little sense to me. I've known and been friends with many of them, and only one even LIKED pink... I have to admit that the time my roommate Mike talked me into going to a club with him and it turned out to be a gay club was funny. He swore up and down that I was gay, and kept trying to set me up with his friends, even when I was already actively dating.

Yes. Just like with every other Ubisoft title.

HOWEVER, once you have the account, you can pretty much ignore UPlay completely. I launch Far Cry 5 from Steam. A launcher popup happens, with the FC5 logo on it. I might see something about UPlay updating for 10 or 15 seconds, then *click*, the game is loaded and launching.

After that, it's just a second Overlay option. One you can use to spend Ubi Club points to pick up some extras for the game. No cash, mind. Just free points you earn by playing Ubisoft games, and doing achievement-ish stuff in them.

IOW, cross-launcher compatibility is excellent.

I downloaded and installed the uplay launcher. How do I connect it to my steam bought version?
Edit: I'm going to open a new discussion for the question.

A like for purple is a sign of sexual frustration....
