So the rite of stamina place in Act I was basically the last place I went to. Now I'm on the Act II map, having finished the 'discover 10 places' quest. How do I finish that one if I can't go back to Act I?

So I've been exploring the first region and have been drinking all the water I can find, but it seemed to be a loosing battle to tend to my thirst. Now I have no grit left to travel to other areas except the main one on the map, and by the time I get there I'm about a few seconds away from dying of thirst. I literally can't travel to any other region to look for water to fix this. Have I hit a no-win scenario? Do I have to restart the game?...

After one of the five square puzzle regions I received what I thought to be a weapon, as the name (I think it was Dull Annihilator or something similar) reminded me of the name of my starter weapon. However, I couldn't find a way to switch to it. Is this a bug, or was that not a weapon? Or could I just not use it for some reason? The item wasn't in my inventory or anything either, so I don't know. Side note; the Rite of Apathy lists perfect reloads as its requirement when it actually requires enemy kills...
