Please give us an option to disable the narrator voice over.
I don't mind the people talking, but the narrator voicing the gray text is annoying and not needed. Also I'm not a fan of that particular voice work.

EDIT: For some reason people aren't looking to find this option. Here it is highlighted: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3039011720

Go into settings, in the game play heading and change voice over to none.

Works for me anyway

That works for ALL voice over. I only want to disable the narrator.

I agree, I'm fine with the people talking but I also want a option to disable just the narrator.

Ahh fair enough then

Yeah, I'm enjoying the different characters voice work so far, but the narrator (as good, or not so good, as he may be) just slows the game down too much because what he reads I have already read.

On the other hand I was trying to find Encased on IMDB or something so I could see who the narrator is since I think they're amazing and sound great!

As an aside I'm glad that these are read also, some crpgs' (like Pathfinder that I'm also playing) have paragraphs of dialogue voiced - set dressing narration in the middle - and then more dialogue afterward but the VA's don't pause or leave any sort of gap for us to follow along, so you need to wait for them to shut up so you can go back and read it all properly to take in the unvoiced section.

Very happy with this decision :D

First world problems

I'm not a fan of narration, so I'll likely be turning it off soon. But, I want to say that I've found the narrator and voices very pleasing overall. Nothing stands out (so far) as an annoying, crazy, or silly aggravating voice.

The only question I have is why everyone sounds American!

I've really liked all the voice work so far, having been sceptical about the devs adding it to the game. Happy to be proven wrong on that, it does add a lot to the atmosphere and immersion. More options is no bad thing, but the narrator has done a great job with it imho.

Enjoy the narrator, certainly stop my urge to just steam pass SMASHING the skip button as quick as I can.

Yes, that is funny. I'm guessing nobody thought about mixing up the voices or it was going to be too expensive. This is nothing like another game I played (I forget the name) where the setting is Bavaria but everyone has a Texas drawl. It was awkward :)

There are times when the narrators voice is much louder than the other characters during conversations.
Could that be looked at please.
Biff Sep 7, 2021 @ 7:23pm
I agree, I would like to be able to turn it off too. If possible an option to only turn it off when in conversations with other characters would be perfect (when it's narrator only the voice and perfomance are pretty good)

Question to everyone wanting it off in dialogue, how do you manage the non-gap when it is absent like in Pillars or Pathfinder etc. as you read along?

That just annoys the hell out of me and is why I either prefer no voice at all and just let me read like the 90's era, or full voiced like we have here. Having half gaps in the dialogue box where you're trying to read the non-verbal bits but getting spoken over by the VA is nightmarish.
