Devs wanted a game where you fight with your team in order to win, just like traditional final fantasy games and there is no going back
Add 8 on 8 team mode (each player control one character).
Add battle royale mode.
Profit.
Wait.... they're too dumb to do anything.
This is what i find on internet :
Online matches > custom > Ai - not authorised > enter lobby > invite friend > you join match 1 side a, he join match 1 side b then both press ready.

Secondly, the game is designed around 3v3 anyway, it's not the same as the PSP Dissidia games, it's more about operating as a team to beat out the opposing party and they've simplified some elements because of it being more hectic. 3v3 is more fun imo because team composition can produce more interesting matchups because of the different playstyles. 2 marksmen running interference on the enemy while an assassin moves in quick for the final blow, is a strategy that you couldn't have in 1v1.
If the game was just 1v1, no one would play marksmen characters.
Its system requirements was through the roof (at the time). It struggled even on (at the time!) high end PCs. Its entry level was extremely high because of the system requirements. That shot it in the foot. Can't have players if people can't even run the game.
*cough* Kinda like Dissidia NT's GPU requirement *cough*
Rise of incarnates was also in the same genre as the absolutely insanely popular Gundam EXVS series which was exclusive to japan. Naturally, this pulled all the import players to rise of incarnates. we are few, it was a PC release, and few could actually play it.
Rise of Incarnates was just massively inferior to EXVS so...we just played the better game.
Roi died from very bad decisions, not because it was 2v2. Dissidia NT is basically wanting a piece of that team fight pie that makes EXVS so d**n popular in japan. Sorry, but 1v1 is not happening.
Anyway, theres the rant. Like how Apex is 3 man squads only, this game is 3 man squads only. (or woman, whatever you wanna say it as.) You just have to accept it and not demand it be something its not. The game is balanced around 3v3 after all.
If thats the only thing you want out of the game then I am sorry to dissapoint you but that is not how this game was designed.
in a shooter maybe if it works, but in a fighting game, 3 vs 3 will not work.
In a teambased game balanced fully around teamplay with characters based on teamroles.. 1v1 wont work.
The game has a 1v1 mode.
The game is not balanced for it.
You are not asking for something they havent heard about countlessly now with a focus on 1v1, the game has been out for PS4 for a year. Despite the game not being regarded to be "good" on PS4 it has been supported all this time as the Arcade version is doing well enough and they just port it's new content over.
No matter the game's reception the same can now be said of the PC version no doubt. There is absolutely no chance the game will be dropped off in a month like Rise of Incarnates was.
And the japanese players are happy with that for 2 whole years.
