The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners
The game seems too dark
On Rift S, I can barely see what I'm doing, even during daylight. I constantly have to pull out the flashlight and shake it (my wrist hurts now) to see anything inside rooms. Even rooms with windows and sunlight pouring in are almost pitch-black.[i.imgur.com] Come to think of it, the cemetery at night is actually brighter than the towns in the day due to the fog effects.

The game could really use a gamma slider.

Maybe you need to do the similar type of config file tweak that Vader Immortal required? https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/c8fi2y/vader_immortal_brightness_fix/
Daylight on the Index is perfect. If you were talking about dark indoor rooms I would somewhat agree but for me there's no option.

Maybe the devs could add a customizeable gamma slider.
Yeah, I had to boost the gamma by editing the game .ini files which made it a LOT better. The game could really use a built-in gamma slider!

Definitely something we are discussing for a future patch. Thanks for the feedback!
I played this on my Vive Pro as I got problems with dark games with the Valve Index in general. I can feel that this game is not made for VR-headsets with LCD panels!

Just curious, what is the problem with dark games when using an LCD headset? I know that LCD can't reproduce as deep blacks as on OLED (obviously), but is it really so bad that it detracts from the experience?

Please take a quick look at my post

Its about the same thing, included a couple of screenshots to show my issue.
It looks good on the Rift S here. Not washed out at all. Dark scenes look dark not foggy. The only places that require the flashlight are places you'd expect to be too dark to see, like interiors with no windows. That's why you have the flashlight.

These areas will be dark on every HMD. There are games that are a mess on LCD HMDs. Don't Knock Twice is the worst I've seen for fog/lack of contrast. This is good.

It is a bit dark, but nothing like as bad as the Op says. i`m on the Rift S. I only ever use the flashlight on dark indoor scenes or going through the catacombs. It`s fine.

I know people`s perceptions of light and dark can be different, this could be due to some people`s eye sight condition. Maybe get your eyes checked out? I`m not being flippant as i`ve worked in opticians. Some people will often blame other things when it could be their eyesight needs checking out.

For me WMR - lenovo Explorer, the nights are way too bright. Maybe is my headset (dunno), but would be nice if we can adjust that with a sliders for contrast and Brightness! I barely managed it, adjusting the post processing to minimum.

It definitely seems unnaturally dark to me; like this room has 2 open windows on the left, but looks like this.[i.imgur.com]

That`s normal.

How do you make it? can you give me the .ini name?
I tried the brightness fix at 2.8 and to be honest I prefer the original default adjustment. The game (on Index at least) is dark where it needs to be. You can edit it and make it less dark but it feels less realistic that way.

Other games like Vader Immortal or Curfew do need the brightness fix, otherwise it's pitch black and you can't see sh** but IMO it was very good in S&S, it's also more scary.
Yeah this brightness is bugged as hell. I'veg ot CV1 and quest2. QUest 2 is unplayable even on 100% brightess.. Heres a comparison

CV1
https://ibb.co/h7FgdZ9
QUEST 2
https://ibb.co/qNmCCyR

The thing is colors are bugged. Everything is black. LIKE if you drop range of colors. Please give us real gamma not brightness settings. Look at pics. You cant see any details on walls. on quest it is black
PS. ini settings crank up a little brighess but dark places are black like hell.
