can not write hunkusage.dat

I get this message when I boot up the game and try to load the first level. I get various other messages for different levels. Also, I have to change my settings every time leave the game and get back in. can anyone tell me whats wrong? I cant find a solution from researching yet.

I guess you have Steam in Program Files?

If so, either run it as admin so the game can write files in its install directory

Else, there's a mod here on Steam called RealRtCW which should help; it has a Vanilla Plus extension to keep the original game feel if needed

Or run the game through ioRtCW, which writes in My Documents
