But frankly, we have to see how it works in the end.
It's simple (and i'm not even an english speaker myself).
1) You need to drop an unique item (or crafting one from a rare item with the rune of ascendance) until you have the best "legendary potential" possible on it.
2) You need to drop an exalted item of the same kind than the unique item.
And possibly, if needed, modify some of his rares affixes with differents runes or glyphes (from the craft, ex: glyph of order or rune of discovery) and upgrade them to have the best tier affixes you're able to do for your build.
3) Putting these two items in the eternity cache at the end of the dungeon.
4) Pray the RNG God to pick the best affixes you want from your exalted item and add them to your new legendary item (if it's a "legendary potential": 1 /2 /or 3. If you're the lucky owner of a very rare "4 potential legendary" unique, all the affixes from the exalted item will be added on the legendary).
Edit: probably not for a 5 affixes item created with the glyph of despair, and it will probably pick 4 from these 5. but it's a detail.
