Locked Mastery Toggle
Went from 250k players at peak, to 5k. That's not normal. Why did we lose so many people on one of the best games I have ever played? Our inability to disrespect our own time enough to enjoy being forced to stick to one and only one choice of specialization.

We have a toggle for everything else. Online, partial onine, full offine, solo self found, solo self bound, hardcore. Every other style of arpg play is accounted for...except the most common one. I personally, in real life, know seven people who play ARPGs like it's their life.

Their biggest complaint about this game, just like mine, is locked mastery. IT's not meaningful by default, it's only meaningful because the devs locked it. And being able to undo it just makes sense.

We are literally cosmic-level heroes who can alter time, space, reality, and even alternate realities...You telling me that with all that phenomenal cosmic power at out disposal, we couldn't find a way to change one last talent point?
Is our character physically, literally, actually unable to change their mind? Are they canonically just a stubborn curmudgeonly old grandpa Scrooge who refuses to change unless visited by the Ghosts of Suffering Past, Present, and Future?
No? Then why can't we change our last point of mastery. Why have that poor old lady in town who can reset our talent points...when we can do that ourselves? Give her an actual purpose, and make it so that we can talk to her and change everything.

Even the best players in the game, it takes them about 10-20 hours to get to level 60. Why do I mention level 60? It's the point in the game where it starts getting "challenging" and you finally have enough talent points available and spent to be able to get an actual taste of what your class can do. You can't get a good picture of a class at level 20 like many people say in counter to my point. Level 20 is nothing. Not in terms of time spent or in terms of power.

Level 20 is like looking at a cake.
Level 60 is being halfway through your slice. You have taken a few bites, you know the taste, the texture, the flavour and the way they all interact to make the cake what it is.
And getting to level 60 takes at least 35-55 hours for the average players. They have the metrics, you just need to look them up. It takes a hot minute though lol.
Nobody should have to spend 35 hours releveling a new character, only to find out "oh well I really don't like this specialization" or "wow, I really suck at this specialization" and you never get the option of trying something different, not even once.

Hell, a one time full change of mastery / spec would be excellent even.
Anything other than forcing that decision on to everybody.

You guys are literally flopping in a drying lake bed at this point. Do you really need to keep gatekeeping to the point where the game dies off entirely? Or maybe we can refill the lake and bring things back up?

I promise you, the choice isn't any less meaningful because you can undo it. IT just means your character went back to school to get a different degree. Is it really that hard to imagine a world where a legendary hero of legendary skill and power, would be able to admit that they were wrong and change their path to chose something better for them so they can help as many people as possible?

Or should they remain stubborn and curmudgeonly and never change until the day the community dies off and we all get forced to play a lesser game? This one thing was enough to make me not want to play.

Why? Because I actually respect myself and my time and I appreciate when a game developer also respects my time, at the bare minimum. I spent 85 hours and my only complaint was one thing. I genuinely have never played an ARPG that was this good out of the box, but I have also never seen a game screw itself over so fast and so badly...
Except Diablo 4.
Do you want this game to be another Diablo 4?? DO YOU? Because if you do, not listening to a vast majority of your fans who have left the game because you ignored them is a good way to get another Diablo 4.
24 years of playing ARPGs and this legendary game comes along, but with a flaw so obnoxious that it makes the whole experience feel like Vinegar in your eye.

Imagine not imagining a scenario where a player has been asking for a feature since release, and been constantly bullied by the community for even suggesting the idea, so I continue because I know its a good idea for the health of the game....

My bad for not reading the patch notes of a game I don't play anymore because they appeared to not listen to feedback for years....We were giving this feedback in beta testing lol.

Again my bad for not reading patch notes of a game I don't play because they don't fix the game.
Once every few months I go to reddit and such and post this request making as sound of an argument as I could.

So, it seems I was right.

Thank you for informing me that there is a change, but not-thank-you for being an utterly subpar example of human excrement. You could have just posted a link like the first person. I found the info even though they posted the wrong link lol.

Thanks to the rest of you though, I do appreciate the information on the patch notes. This is indeed a genuine quality of life change as far as I can tell.
Kind of weird that you say its one of the best games you played but you don't keep tabs on patches

There have been 5 posts, 1 per day, since the 7th of April, detailing what was going to be implemented in the 1.2 update.
You didn't even need to read the patch notes to have the information you wanted, as it was published front and center in the post dating back to April 10, literally the second to latest update post.

You could have just looked at the update posts on Steam? They're literally just under the Play button on the library page. A wheel-scroll could have given you the information you wanted.
You're going to blame me for not giving you the information? Okay.

You didn't even try finding it on your own and even searched and necro'd a one year old post about it when instead of posting that wall of text, you could have simply taken a look at the "Activity" section of the game in your library, or read the first page of the link provided by the "Featured" post.[forum.lastepoch.com]

If you're going to crash out for as little as this, I'm just going to say :
Take your meds and quit social medias for a bit.
